Hey
I was wondering if there is a was to limit where the dynamite can placed around a func_constructible for it to blow up. Right now i can place the dyno about 400 map units away from the barrier as long as it’s in its line of sight!
Hey
I was wondering if there is a was to limit where the dynamite can placed around a func_constructible for it to blow up. Right now i can place the dyno about 400 map units away from the barrier as long as it’s in its line of sight!
Simple answer - no. The dynamite radius is 400 map units. Only if you block it with ‘thick’ solid walls does the dyno blast not effect it.
One thing you can try is to raise (in z) the origin of the func_constructible. I could never figure out if the dynamite blast radius was spherical or cylindrical. If it is spherical, raising the origin might help reduce the plant/blast distance.
I’m here again. And through several tests it gets weirdest and weirdest.
If I lower it too much (Inside structural bottom), I can only plant if the dynamite is ON one of the destructible brushes. If I raise it a bit, but still inside terrain (detail part)… Well, I can plant where I put patches for borders (But only one), and some positions inside the plant trigger doesn’t work (On the left of the first wooden part, when you are south from the barrier and look north), and some other it works (If I plant 1 meter away on the left of the wooden part, it works o.o).
So I’ll put the origin brush at the same height as the rest of the barrier, like in Gold Rush, will test several offset to plant inside the "trigger’ (What Omni-Bot finds as a trigger box), and if it works in any of these offsets it will stay with some “exploit” like in Gold Rush…
Thanks again anyway for the help
I fixed a problem like this for eim when he was working on bremen final or so. The blast radius was too large in the original map for one of the barriers, I made it so the constructible was in the air along with it’s origin above where the model or brushwork would be representing the constructable object. I think the radius is spherical, the further I moved the construction entity vertically the small the radius on the floor became to a point where you could no long plant the dyno around the corner, you had to be close to the objective.
In my case, the problem is that there’s a trickplant up the barrier ^^’ And I can’t lower it much because the terrain prevents the players from planting it correctly
Anyway, thanks
Sorry to bump the very old thread, I know if I’m not wrong there’s a script for Gold Rush to reduce this radius but can’t find it… Got a trick planting problem on Nordwind 2 and I would like to fix it by reducing the radius. Instead of making a new thread, since Google and SD Forums search tool both show this thread, I prefer ask it here
Any solution found since 2004?
Maybe there is something possible with set mins/max command.
Also, the range which defines the area to plant is just a trigger brush or is it set automatically ?
Nothing in official map sources with a such kind of brush; The one I’ve added to the Barrier is solid.
Seems it has its default range (400 units) and that it can’t be changed through entity properties, that’s why I asked
Is the trickplant problem you are trying to solve just one of heights ? So if you set the origin a bit down, the problem is solved ?
Woot. But if you set the origin down, you get visual problems, no ?

edit: it solves also only height problems, no ? Was the goldrush script once also doing the same ?
It seems origin-related, but I found a strange point: above I can plant, under I can’t, even if the dyna is close or far from barrier.
