Dxtory and anticheat

(LuLNope) #1

A month or two ago I tried to record gameplay using dxtory. Anticheat recognized dxtory as a 3rd party cheat program and obviously I got temporary 2 days ban. Did the detection issue get fixed? I would prefer to avoid checking that by myself, I like to be able to play DB anytime I want, and also I’d like to be able to record my gameplay anytime I want to. I know that shadowplay works fine so it’s possible to make the anticheat tolerate recording software.

(MissMurder) #2

I will have to look into this for you. Take comfort that we are working on making the anti-cheat system better no matter what.

(LuLNope) #3

I really hope this will get resolved soon. Recording videos is a much better way of showing bugs for example. There’s plenty of little, annoying things I’d like to show you that are really hard to describe. Proof of broken hitreg, movement bug on the stairs on Victoria map, disappearing napalm flames, disappearing objective icons etc. Videos would probably give you many more details than any screenshot or description. Also I want to document kicking people’s asses… And the double headshot with single sniper bullet. It was a 1 in a gazyliard situation but I couldn’t record it, once in a lifetime shot!

until the NDA is lifted no videos are allowed here, only on the Alpha forums. After the NDA is lifted only videos recorded from that day on are allowed in public, anything recorded previous to NDA lifting is only linkable on the Alpha forums. This was dictated by Splash Damage, Nexon may have a different concept of the NDA

(LuLNope) #5

I might just send links to the videos straight to MissMurder and not post it publicly. Also if I record a scrim video and the other team wants to see it because I pulled some crazy dogdy sheit or something I can just give them the link personally. the real problem is that Dxtory is being recognized as a cheat software which it is not and with Radeon 7770 I can’t really use shadowplay (and it’s counterpart for radeon, raptor’s Gaming Evolved Recorder is not working on my Vista 64bit).

(MissMurder) #6

You can send those videos directly to me @LuLNope‌
Also- apparently dxtory has been used for hacks which is why it’s getting flagged
:-1:
but still gonna investigate

(Mustang) #7

As usual it’s the hackers that are being blamed for ballsing up things for everyone else.

Why not use a better anticheat solution rather than penalising legitimate use-cases all the time, especially things that work flawlessly in other games.

TSNotifier is my current bugbear, please “investigate” this also.

(LuLNope) #8

Ok, I actually researched why Dxtory is flagged as a cheat and I find it reasonable. According to post on a forum of a different Nexon game using XIGNCode3 Dxtory “hooks” (what ever that means) into the game in a way that’s similar to common cheats so It’d be hard to verify what’s a recording software and what’s a cheat. I’m ok with Dxtory being banned if it’s something like that, whatever limits number of cheaters is fine with me.

Questions that follows: is Rptor with it’s recording feature also forbidden or will I be able to use it? It’ll require me to reinstall system to a newer one, it takes a while so I’d appreciate if you could tell me whether AMD’s GVR (Rptor recording feature) is ‘cheaty’ as well.

(MissMurder) #9

@LuLNope‌ yes this was exactly the game team’s concern but it is bothersome when Dxtory is a pretty popular program :frowning: and I will update you on the Rptor question asap.

(LuLNope) #10

Actually I spelled it wrong several times in a row. It’s “Raptr” not “Rptor”. This’ll probably help : D

(MissMurder) #11

So right now it’s “probably” safe. If it does trigger a kick it won’t ban you outright. We are looking into it a bit more though just to be safe. Question: Not sure if we talked about this already but does Shadowplay not do it for you?

(LuLNope) #12

Well, shadowplay works only on Nvidia cards and I’m running AMD’s Radeon 7770. I do have a laptop with gt730m but playing on it would limit me to using resolutions 720p and lower because of unacceptably low framerates.

Thanks for the info about Raptr.

(MissMurder) #13

@LuLNope‌ Ah that’s right. Ok will report back!

(Bangtastic) #14

mirillis action ( not free, demo comes with some watermark logo) is pretty awesome, or try open broadcaster software (obs) recording

(LuLNope) #15

Dxtory with proper codecs/shadowplay/GVR are much less demanding than any of the two. Action is very good, I tried both when I first researched about recording software. OBS is EXTREMELY CPU hungry and that’s a no go when using first gen quad core (q9550). Also MSI Afterburner recording feature is solid but still cuts into your framerate much more than Dxtory/Shadowplay/GVR. Overwolf’s recording feature might work but I didn’t test it yet and I doubt it’ll get close to the best 3. Bandicam is much worse than Action. Fraps is similar to Action performance wise, but creates huge files (Fraps’ recordings are crispy as fook).

Also, there’s no guarantee that software I listed isn’t bannable by XIGNCode3.

Thanks for suggestion anyway. I got to know about GVR thanks to Mustang’s suggestion on old Nexon forums so suggestions are welcome.

tl;dr with low-end rig like mine you’re limited to Dxtory/Shadowplay/GVR and nothing gets even close to these 3.

(Mustang) #16

You pretty much have to hook into the game to provide any sort of overlay, steam overlay, recording active overlay, etc.

So if there is an option in Dxtory to turn off any sort of overlay it might not trigger XIGN.

But this doesn’t really help with TSNotifier, who’s entire purpose is to provide an overlay so I can see who’s speaking… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Just ditch XIGN and use VAC+Echo (aka a FairFight, server side anti-cheat type system) IMO.

(Nail) #17

is Shadowplay clean ?

(MissMurder) #18

Yes indeed.

(Mustang) #19

So TSNotifier and [url=“https://projectkryptonite.com/”]Kryptonite are still being flagged, can someone look at fixing these too?
