Dutch mapper seeks help

As beginner i seek help, if someone would like one personal basis (email, msm) to teach me … english is no problem, but if you’re a dutch mapper the better we would understand…

I allreade made a fully working room … but i want to make some historic WW2 fights, my grandparents died a year a ago and they talked about the heavy fighting in my town here and region ( ypres belgium)

Strang thing happened … i changed nothing to my map op editor and when i do a bsp compile (the first option) i get an error and now the map editor is screwed up … hmmm i’ll reinstall sdradiant and try again :???:

There are plenty of tutorials, websites, and forums that are geared to help you… the newb mapper. Take a few hours and browse the net, and you will find some answers to your questions. If you run into something in which you simple cannot find an answer for anywhere… feel free to post in a forum such as this. Just remember that you need to be specific when asking a question.

thanks for the reply’s … but believe me i spend more than days trying out stuff … and still … what i’m looking for is someone more experienced who can help me out on personal basis. i can not pay for it (maybe send some beer LOL ) … so i can send my map to and he can check it out and point me or tell me what is good and not. don’t expect big maps i’m still up to my singel room …

For those who want my map to check it out , i’ll rar it and put it online … i’ll post the link here later.

I have been known to help new mappers on a personal basis in the past, but I do it very infrequently now due to being spammed constantly by shit.

I think if you’ve done your first room, compiled it, got it running in ET etc., you are already well on the way to not needing a 1 to 1 help - all you can do is learn the tools more and play around - remember, doing a good map is dependant on your ideas, not necessarily your skill level (because forums like this can help when you have a technical problem).

No i cerainly will not spam, just need help with one thing, i sill get probs with mapcoordsmin & max i think coz xhen my map starts and u wanna go into limbo … it crashes …

If just someone could make me a working map, just outside with grass and a working sky( have tried different ones but none worning) … doesn’t have to have any building …

Thanks to D3COY for supplying a working map, the only thing d3coy was that your room probably was made hollowing a box…so walls are in eachtother and in a final map this gives problems.

I fixed this now … added some texture to the wall and a sky texture, the only problem is that in the editor the sky is there but when you test the map there’s NO sky ?

Can someone help me out …

daklandz i made that map thingie in a hurry so hollow was the quickest way :slight_smile:

Darklandz, the best thing to learn stuff like that is to do it yourself. However, if you live close enough to Leuven I’m willing to come over for 1 evening and show you the basics.

I don’t give advice through msn anymore cause when I get online I keep getting questions, and sometimes an entire night that I want to do some mapping is spent by helping others and not doing stuff myself.
