Dutch Haze

I am working on a new map called “Dutch Haze” (my first obj map :stroggbanana:). For this I am building a part of Amsterdam, with canals, houseboats, old style houses, ect. Already have a lot of houses in the right style, but now need a church. Does anyone know if there is a nice prefab one somewhere, before I start making a church myself ? Besides the two on wolfmap…

dont want to criticize, but ur map is too plain… ofcource ur map is still in developement and far from finish… but maybe u shoudl try to change the color of some houses…

if Tyrlop is ok with it, i am currently making an extremely detailed Cathedral for a map im working on for his mod, Eastfront. if he says its ok, i’ll send u what i have so far or when i am finished it. It is about the size of St. Davids Bassilica.

Remake the roof without using CSG subtract. It’s the lazy option that leaves you with lots of horrible brushes!

Still working on it. Its already playable, but am filling up the houses one by one … maybe a bit to detailed …but its so addicting :smiley:

Looking nice !
Maybe a little piece of advice: look for a better skybox

The Fueldump skybox gives a very ‘closed’ feeling. There are some nice skyboxes which should fit your map perfectly and that would give a great atmosphere, but that’s just my humble opinion. :slight_smile:

it’s always better to take screenshot in bigger resolution, but then resize it down to have a fake anti-aliasing look-a-like.

Looking for a better skybox… sure …but euhhh … where to find. Is my first map and still need to learn so many things :-). No idea what /cg_draw2d 0 does, but Ill google on it ;-). These screenshots are made in 1280x…

/cg_draw2d 0 disables all the 2d stuff you see while playing. For example, The timer, Hud, health bar and such. use /cg_draw2d 1 to get it back.
It’s good to use this for images, because then you see only the image itself.

I am almost done with Dutchhaze 2.0. A preview can be seen at 212.187.208.38:27960 (if map is loaded). I cut the street from Dutchhaze 1.0 into two, to get better fps. It helped a bit, but still in the middle of the map some fps drops and have no clue why. Think its just to much details and houses you can go in. Any review, tips, tricks and comments are welcome :D.

make sure u used clipmissile at fence near water instead of clipweapon etc…
