Actually it can also be called a train station and even a bunch of other terms, like railroad station etc., but I assume that as someone from England the railway station is the expression you’re most used to.

In the end English is such an evolutive and global language that one can only afford to correct someone in specific grammatic or ortographic errors. Vocabulary is tricky, as it most likely has found an official use in any number of English speaking countries.

in the UK the general term is infact train station and railway station if anything train station is more common especially in northen england.
