Duck spam in combat

Coincidentally, that’s how I write them.
I couldn’t care less if health regen was removed, it wouldn’t affect me any more than it would affect other players. The same is true for crouch spam, the reasoning for the suggestion in the OP has nothing to do with any problems performing on my part. That should be obvious to anyone who’s played against me or seen my k/d ratios on pub and in pugs.
it is painfully obvious how you play, its true. you bait corners to pad stats. you are a pub star. gratz

I just found the perfect game for you, BAMFana ! http://goo.gl/4jCtkS

Kendle: Great post, totally agree with that.

I does make sense that spread would increase during the act of actually crouching but then be decreased once fully crouched.
I have only come across a few crouch spammers in my short time playing Xt. It didn’t seem any more effective than crouch spamming in any other game.
I’ll have to personally play around with the crouch mechanics on my own before I start crouch spamming in every fight. I’d like to see how crouching actually effects the hotboxes.

(Protekt1) #65

Earlier I stated I was about half and half, leaning a bit more towards reducing crouch spam but now after reading everyone’s opinion on the subject and better forming my own opinion I think they shouldn’t touch crouch. It really is a risk/reward type of behavior and spamming it really isn’t that beneficial at all. Reducing aim will only serve to make it less desirable to ever crouch during a gun fight. And saying it doesn’t look good to spectators… erm, I think I’ve heard that argument before from a bunch of wankers in another game.

Still waiting for an answer how this thread was meant

(BAMFana) #67

If you understood the OP as “crouching is bad”, then I honestly don’t know what to tell you.

(Volcano) #68

learn to ignore rex fana, most do

(fubar) #69

I don’t know about you, but being able to master a certain mechanic in movement that alters the hitboxes of your character AND ontop of that being able to use said mechanic properly to your own advantage? That’s the definition of skill and a rewarding play. You see it all the time in RtCW/ET to date even, hell even in Quake (often used to “dodge” rails as majority of the people generally aim for chest/neck height) or even in CS (peaking around a corner to avoid that first bullet being a headshot and instakill). It’s just another thing that separates a “good” player from a bad player.

(BAMFana) #70

There’s no skill in mashing crouch at random intervals, which is what the OP was trying to address. It would have no noticeable impact on a player who uses crouch once in a fight to dodge a sniper headshot or for peaking around a corner.

(fubar) #71

No, but merely smashing crouch through out the entire duel will just as much make you a free kill as standing still. I’m referring to crouch spam whilst strafing - there’s a major difference.

(BAMFana) #72

Yes, we’re talking about “crouch spam whilst strafing”, which should be obvious enough given that I wrote it in the OP, without me having to write it out every time. The mechanical skill required to add crouch spam to your strafing pattern is almost non-existant. The only difficulty lies in learning to adjust aim for rapidly alternating view height.

In any case, as I have already said in an earlier post, it’s possible that this isn’t a real issue and that the drawbacks of spamming crouch during combat outweigh the benefits, in which case there is no need to change anything.

(Rex) #73

Of course you don’t know, otherwise you would have corrected me.

Aha. First it’s a big problem and now ‘there is no need to change anything’. Makes sense.

(BAMFana) #74

I posted what I perceived as a problem. Other players posted counter-arguments as to why it isn’t a problem. My initial reasoning is then modified depending on the validity of the arguments raised. That’s how a discussion works, it’s the point of having one in the first place. I understand this may come as a surprise to you, as you seem to see discussion as some sort of ego contest where the aim is to behave as childishly as possible.

(Rex) #75

No, the aim is to keep absolutely stupid things out of the game. (e.g. CoD gameplay or penalize crouch etc.)
