Door with button

(Crocopep) #1

hey all,

Is it possible to make a door you can open with a button?

Like in fueldump and battery.

Pepijn

Ps: My map is getting better and better

EDIT:

Sorry, I didn’t search the forum. So I need a func_button.

Where can I download the enity?

Yes. It’s possible.

I found only a Q3A tutorial in German so I try to explain it to you briefely… http://home.arcor.de/forestlive/hilfe/button.htm

  1. Create a func_door (like 96x112x8 units)
  2. Create a func_button (let’s say a 8x8x8 box)
  3. Target the func_button at the func_door by selecting first the button and then the door and pressing Ctrl + K. You can also type in the target and targetname manually.

If you see a blue line it worked… compile and have fun. You might also want the door to be locked by default. The func_door entitiy has a key for that from what I remember.

Well, your question was “Is it possible to open a door by a button” and the previous post answered this question.
But if your question was "“Is it possible to open a door by a button only” you will have to do it like this:
(Its also german, mayby sbdy has the time to explain/translate it)

“Is it possible to open a door by a button only”, Yes. That’s what I want.

But the problem is that I don’t have the enity func_button. So where can I download it?

Ps: thx for explaining, but I can speak some german, I’m from the netherlands

Do you use version 1.4.0 or 1.5.0? If 1.5.0, download the newest version of it (26.04.07). If 1.4.0 search for new ent update on this forum. I think it was by nail if I don’t remember too bad.

I use 1.5. But where can I download the newest version of it?

(-SSF-Sage) #9

Link. Download GtkRadiant-1.5.0-2007-04-26.msi.

(Crocopep) #10

THX!

Now I will put you twice in the readme file

EDIT:

I downloaded the newest version, but it’s still not working:

(Crocopep) #11

I’ve downloaded the newest version, but it’s still not working.

(-SSF-Sage) #12

Now that I noticed, I don’t have it either on this version. Not that I missed it. I’m using func_invisible_user for my buttons.

(Crocopep) #13

Funciton_invisible_user…

How can I use it? same as func_button?

(-SSF-Sage) #14

Almost the same. For it you’ll make a brush with common/trigger. It doesn’t move itself (like the func_button does). It’s more scripting friendly imo.

(Crocopep) #15

Ok, I will just make a door you can lock with a button(fun_invisible_user).

Else you will always see the lock-icon when you’re near the door.

(isbowhten) #17

to prevent the icons … just create splines a script_mover moves to

(Crocopep) #18

splines, what does that mean?
