Door Problem

(Victorianetza) #1

I have the following problem;

i am making a func_door_rotating and i copy it (using SPACE) and on the copied func_door_rotating put an origin brush. then i place it where i want the door to open; i compile and test. When starting the map, the following message appears:

" SEtbrushModel - Null"

what the hell???!?!?! :blah: :frowning: :???: :disgust:

You got an extra origin brush floating around somewhere, most likely with a func_door key to it.

interesting; know how to fix it… except searching?

You make a quick prayer to the gods of the underworld w/ the sacrifice of a cat. The offending origin will be gone in 4hr18 mins…

sigh

if the origon is part of the func_door, delete the door, press ctrl+z to turn back time and then the whole door shpould be selected, then just seaarch, it will be easier

if there is a floating origin brush from a previous door… blaa…should search for it :bored:

What you could do is open the .map in a text editor, Search for Origin and where you get a result, check if it’s on its own instead of being with a door or script_mover or trigger_objective_info, etc. If you find one, save the map with a different name using Save As, compile it and if the error is still there Undo, check next lonely origin…

Long process but might be faster than walking around the map hiding stuff etc…

ok tnx. try it

i also get this “setbrushmodel null” error that keeps me from loading my map. but the difference is that i haven’t used any origin brushes since i don’t have any doors. my map is just plain terrain in a box, with a tunnel and two destroyable objects, and a lake outside. and i recently added a skybox for props_skyportal using this guide:
http://www.nibsworld.com/rtcw/tutorial_skybox.shtml
any ideas?

Ctrl+Alt+LeftMouseClick does the same without using the undo function. Just btw…

repT|Le, maybe your destructible objects have origin brushes that aren’t connected to the entity?

thegnat: in the debug window i found an entity and then used Search brush to find it. it was not present in the xy plane, only in the z axis, covering the entire workzone but couldn’t find it in the xy plane. so while selected i pressed Backspace  thinking of it now it would be much smarter to press N first. so i compiled and the map worked perfectly.
made some new screenies:
