Door Controls

Hello,
I wanna make door controls or a generator and if you destroy it with a dynamite 3 doors goes open.
Like in battery with the generator, someone knows how, or someone knows a nice tutorial?

Your best option would be to learn general scripting and then open battery.script to look how it’s done.

Where can i find battery.script? :open_mouth:
And maybe other scripts like radar or something.

Pak0.pk3, maps folder. But don’t edit any content in the pak0.pk3. If you want to, copy the file(s) into another pk3.

.pk3 is basicly renamed .ZIP file, which you can open in winzip/winrar etc. But I would suggest you to download pakscape, which can open and save in pk3 format. It is very handy and easy to use.

:slight_smile: can i also load the .map file, like battery.map, cuz i can’t find it. ^^
Or maybe .bsp to .map

You can’t open .bsp files in the editor. .map file is compiled into bsp. Best way is to try to find a source map file, but for battery and other standard maps except goldrush, you won’t find it cos they are not open source.

How ever, you CAN decompile from bsp to map but it will reduce the quality. For example mess texture alignement, origins and worst, make all brushes structural. You can do a search on how to decompile. There is a decompiler Ikki007 made, but I didn’t find it with a fast search.

Decompiling can be done with any recent version of Q3Map2, you only have to look up the command parameters.

Also, opening other people’s map files should only be done as a reference or for learning purposes. Using other people’s brushwork is not done.

Oh, and a final note: make sure you don’t change any of the pak<number>.pk3 files or you are in for some trouble.

Yes. That is true what kamikazee said. I just said to let you know that you don’t have to excpect everything to work straight away in all places.

Oh yes and the structural thing is awfull. :frowning: Althought they can be guessed or atleast finally noticed when you walk with r_showtris 2 on. As a sidenote too.
