Don't punish people for leaving games with cheaters!

(distinquishedSchooner) #1

So, cheaters is back and only legit players is afflicted by your “anti cheat” system.
Sure i can report cheater and hope to get him banned, but nothing stops him from making a new account and get right back to it. Cheaters don’t cheat to get high ranks, they are only doing it to piss ppl off.

And still i am forced to play with them!?!?
We were five friends playing comp tonight and two games in a row there was aimbotters.
We sat through the first game and everyone reported him, 15-20 mins of wasted time…

Next game is up and as soon as the game starts the whole team is instagibbed by a new cheater, not even seeing us. We spawn again and boom everyone dies… Same player, and he’s not even close to our spawn.
We all decided to leave and start a new match as we have better things to do with our spare time then to feed cheaters.

BUT GUESS WHAT, we can’t! We are forced into the same FKING match with the cheater still in it, hell the game is closing down if we don’t feed him!

What are you thinking Nexon??
Damn, give us a 5 min penalty for leaving the game but don’t force us to feed a cheater for 15-20 mins game after game, that is just beyond retarded…

Please respond to this and tell me why you think this is a good system?

Too bad about a cool game =( we had a lot of fun (for a couple of days) before cheaters found a new way around your new anti cheat program.

I love how people assume that anti cheat means that you’ll never see hackers.

Here’s the rub, the anti cheat has to be updated vigorously, so it can detect any new cheats created to bypass the system. On top of that, anti cheat on it’s own is useless, your best bet is to have in game report system, as well as some way for players to actually watch and check for hacks. CS GO Overwatch does a pretty good job at this, but even that’s not full proof.

Bottom line, there is no sure fire way to end cheating, these sad pathetic bastards can’t enjoy the thrill of winning a gunfight fairly, so they have to cheat to feel like they’re good enough. It’s pretty sad, because to me it’s like cheating to the final level of an old school game, it ruins all the fun of getting there in there first place.

As far as I’m concerned, the game needs a in game reporting system, and the votekick needs to be better. Then of course we need an Overwatch system, which not only allows players to view suspect, but also allows the devs to see what the computer is doing at a given time, so they accurately figure out what exe the cheat is tied to.

My point was that legit players is afflicted by not being able to leave and start a new game (maybe with a 5 min penalty), we are forced to play with the cheaters until both rounds is over.

It’s not competitive it’s a feeding ground for cheaters.

What Watsyurdeal said is very correct. But sadly in reality, there’s always those no lifes who just like to go around and disrupt other’s fun. If anyone meets a hacker, just keep kicking him out or everyone can leave the game, leaving the hacker no fun since whenever someone meets him, they always leave him alone. Eventually the hacker won’t have any “fun” and give up.

Here’s one story:
“Give us new anti-cheat!!!” “Give us new anti-cheat”… New anti-cheat released
Three days later: “Anti-cheat is not working”, “Useless sh*t”…
Come on people, you are given what you asked for, and now complaining about it… IMO, it is working good (and lots better than last one) and also there will probably be more updates to it…

(distinquishedSchooner) #6

Kicking him is not possible in comp. And leaving just means we cant play more due to the penalty system. This is affecting legit players more then the cheaters.

But yes, an option to kick in comp would solve the problem.

Read the post, it’s not the anti cheat system that fails.
It’s the penalty for leaving mid game.

I guess my headline could have been better…

If anything I’d say the best solution is to let people leave, as long as they give a reason.

“Why are you wanting to quit?”

“Hacker”

“Suspect?”

“This guy, ButtMucher420”

“Alright, thank you for reporting”

Of course people could also abuse the system, but then again if it’s common knowledge in how this works, I suspect a lot of people will leave quickly, which should result in flag for the anticheat to pick up.

Just a thought, but again, the reality is you can’t do much to fix the problem. And I also think punishing people for leaving is kind of cruel because a lot of things happen, connection drops, game crashes, etc. But if at least someone leaves and reports a player upon doing so, they should at least not get screwed over. And if 3 of people on a team leave and report the same person that should at least flag them.

New headline.

A forfeit option wouldn’t be a bad thing for comp anyway, along with changes so that if the entire enemy team leaves, the game should be auto-won rather than you having to sit there on defense playing the rest of the match vs. nobody.

How about some simple server side consistency checks. Like, a player can only shoot one bullet at a time? No changing names in match? How about measuring time on target or miss ratio? Or that a bullet has the same trajectory as the aim point?

(Ghosthree3) #13

Here’s the problem. They obviously can’t tell that person is cheating or that person wouldn’t be playing. Therefore they can’t let you leave because they don’t know it’s a cheater and they can’t let you leave all games because that would kill a ranked system.

(Ardez1) #14

According to the Splash Damage forum ranked will be reshuffled in the future(ranking algorithms will be changed radically). So atm ranked probably isn’t a great idea anyways.

(MTLMortis) #15

…also it’s still beta. This is so they can get all the stuff working right.

(Ardez1) #16

Quote from Anti

There are a lot of issues with the ranking system. The way matchmaking has ended up working we’ve not seen the skill rating ranges expand as we expected and as a result the rate of change between ranks is too slow.

There are plans to fix this and then put matchmaking through something of a re-calibration phase, but right now I’m not sure when that will be going live. All I can tell you is it’s not where we’d like it to be a present.

When we get to the point that the fixes might be incoming I’ll make sure we message that out to you folk in the community.

(Ghosthree3) #17

Good. Hopefully once the system works better and more cheaters are banned ranked gets a hard reset.
