ETQW had an amazing VOIP system, probably the best I’ve ever seen in any game. 3 layers of VOIP with visual indicators and a audio fade slider where people could have VOIP supercede game noise or not or to a degree.
Dirtybomb only needs team VOIP. It’s too small for fireteams and though it would be nice to have global I doubt that in 2015 such an extra feature would get added in to games, games simply aren’t made to that level of quality anymore.
The current team VOIP needs to be available all the time, even when players are gibbed. I say this as someone who plays in a team-based organization that teaches our players to be vocal and communicate. Your average pub player is so averted to talking that it is insane to make it harder to communicate.
It is so difficult to get the average DB player to cooperate and communicate, so why make it harder? Make VOIP available ALL the time like it was in ETQW and Brink!
Yes, it’s not realistic, but lets be honest, nothing in this game is truly “realistic” so that’s not a good reason. In the end, you are just pushing people to avoid using the VOIP at all and driving them to Teamspeak, Mumble, Ventrillo, etc. If you refuse to change the VOIP system you should just remove it because eventually people will stop using it altogether.
