i heard some people say it works fine and others say it doesn’t
does the game work on ati cards or not
Brink utterly, utterly fails on some ATI cards. It depends on the type. To be perfectly honest, it’s not worth the risk.
still issues but way more better than in the beginning.
I can play the game with an medium Laptop ( not build for Gaming) , small i5 , Radeon 5xxx, 4GB Ram at about 30 - 50 FPS. Could be better but able to play and enjoy.
HD 5800, been fine since launch day for me regardless of driver set, although running 11.7 at the moment.
Q6700@3,6GHz and a 5830, I get some 25-50 fps. 25-34 fps on container city. Turning everything to lowest possible only adds 3-4 more fps, so it’s quite not worth it. Changing resolution/textures changes nothing at all.
Asus Radeon HD6870 1gb DirectCU here, I’ve had no graphical issues at all.
Think I have everything turned on, can’t remember atm.
It works fine on ATI, but you must be willing to play with the drivers. Some cards work better w/ older drivers, others with newer.
I find 11.3 works great on my HD5850. Other users report the new 11.7 and also the 11.8 preview drivers work much better.
4870 here and the game plays so badly; FPS spikes up to 80 sometimes and the nose dives to 20 even on an FPS config, so it made it about unplayable. I quit updating my drivers, because all my other games worked perfectly and I wasn’t about to break them for this game.
5770 here and it can barely chug over 30fps. Don’t forget all the random fps spikes that trouble everbody in this game, even nvidia people.
I want to know how they messed up idtech 4 so badly. The game isn’t even that pretty compared to other games out there as well.
The game is jittery rather than choppy. That’s what makes it annoying to play. A low framerate can be acceptable. In Shattered Horizon (also poorly optimised) I had a low framerate but I could still get by because the low rate was predictable. Brink isn’t like that all.
GTX260 - Smooth as butter.
If there are any FPS spikes then they are not significant.

got an radeon hd 4650, think i might have to upgrade before i get this on the pc
i can only tell you my experience with it, and as an owner of a 5870 1GB, the game runs pretty damn good. i’ve turned off shadows, AO, and i normally don’t play with AA / vsync on any of my games, and my resolution is 1920 x 1200. i’ve turned off AO because it turns my screen really dark blue for some reason.

Agree with this. Nvidia 9800 GT (not a new card at all) and I don’t notice any spiking.
Radeon 5850 and not too great with 11.8. Btw 11.8 preview 2 just came out on the 8th. I think the problem is that radeon simply cant handle all the deferred lighting in this game. The game uses deferred lighting and anti aliasing which should not be possible. This game should of been direct x 11.
