Recently I’ve been getting nearly unplayable frames, and was wondering if someone had a config that would help.
Does someone know of a good config to maximize frames?
You can have mine and my UI as well (or at least the pieces that turn off all the map stuff). You’ve got me on Steam so hit me up if you want.
Why is it that there seems to be a trading market for config files with this game?
Can you not use the ingame settings like the average person?

Why do you think people who use engine-settings aren’t average persons?
Because it requires extra effort
And because the average person doesn’t post on this forum
Can someone post it here? I don’t need HUD just the other lowest possible settings and I don’t have anyone on Steam.

Not everyone has a good enough pc to just use the in-game settings. Configs aren’t abnormal for people who want a playable or just a higher fps. Pretty much every FPS game provides the player to change their cfg, so this isn’t anything new.
If the in-game settings actually work for you, keep using them. Not EVERYONE is happy with the in-game settings.
@RyePanda I think you can find newest fps configs here I haven’t noticed much difference between sick6 newb’s config and Typo’s config and I think Im using newb’s one right now and its fine.

That’s the nice thing about PC gaming, the scaling ability you have. Some people care about maximizing their framerate (and play on lower visual settings), others like to crank up the visual quality while still maintaining 60 fps. Also the ability to rebind your keys, the way you want is something nice. And of course the modding scene is another big plus in a lot of PC games.
That’s mostly why I prefer PC gaming personally. (+ I prefer mouse and keyboard over controller except when it’s a racing game)

@Ctrix
Why does it even bother you?
Not all people can afford to/want to play on max settings while still retaining a good framerate.
You want to play with in-game settings, good for you. @RyePanda wants to play with lower than in-game settings, good for them.
I really don’t see how this could affect you enough to make a post on here, as it literally makes zero difference for you, except it might make some people who otherwise couldn’t play the game, keep playing.
Why do you think it bothers me?
I am just curious. Why’re you people so defensive? Are you afraid you’re not average enough?

@Ctrix
Well since you’re just curious, because not all people can afford/care about graphics enough to lose fps.
I could run the game on max if I wanted but the game isnt optimized well (seems to get worse with every update)
As a result the game can have bad fps drops, FPS dropping below 60 for me is unacceptable in a fps game.
So I choose to run a config that keeps my frames above 120 at all times.
I use Outc1ders config found here…

I come from Quake 3 and I started back in 2000. I didn’t have a super high end PC and playing Q3 with most of the neat stuff turned on yielded me about 30-70fps that fluctuated pretty hard depending on where I was and what was happening. Due to being new, Q3 being brutal since people who have been playing the series for years at that point and me getting low/unstable FPS I was pretty awful. There were other reasons why I was awful but that’s another story.
I mentioned on server what FPS I was getting when another player asked about it. Then a really good player mentioned that you really needed to get your game to 125FPS can cap it there due to a certain physics quirk with the Q3 engine. He mentioned a site where players uploaded demos and their configs (this is pre-google mind you). I found a config that made my game look pretty awful but it allowed me to play at 125FPS. And the guy was right about the physics quirk (it was fixed later on) as there were a couple of jumps that were ridiculously useful but almost impossible to do consistently unless you had 125FPS. And it smoothed out my gameplay so that I wasn’t getting variable frames anymore which meant that one of my issues with consistency as a player vanished which allowed me to work on other issues.
Also, a neat side effect of finding that site is I came across demos of players who were, at the time, much better than I. I could download their demo and watch them and see how they played. This too helped immensely with my play issues and helped me catch up much quicker than normal. I mention this because I started uploading videos to YT because Dirty Bomb doesn’t have full match demos of people playing which shows the good and the bad. We only have frag movies where you can make anybody look amazing given enough footage but you can’t see how people play that puts them into situations where they can do amazing things. So I turned my unused YT channel into an archive. It’s also a good example of a “low FPS” config if you want to see how it looks in game.
Splash Damage locked down all of the settings that could be abused to gain a visual advantage outside of simply getting more FPS more consistently. In the past you could remove tree, muzzle flash and explosions which I wasn’t personally comfortable with. That’s why I always made my own config that made sure none of this stuff was removed but still kept my FPS consistent. I have a really nice PC but trying to keep 144FPS at all times with minimal drops in DB can be rough even for my system. So that’s one reason people use a config like this. Others use it because they would get 15-30FPS otherwise.
Lol get a load of that guy. “Afraid of being average” wut, m8 I’ll have you know I’m 13cm ;p
