I’ve been using him for a few days now and he’s tons of fun. Unfortunately he doesn’t net much XP or score in the course of a normal match even though I typically have a higher KD with him than other mercs. In comparison to Arty or Sky hammer who both get ammo pack XP and points in addition to their explosive powers, Fragger just doesn’t net much. Am I wrong or does he need a way to earn more points to be useful for completing missions?
Does Fragger Need an XP and score Buff?
I don’t feel like Fragger has a score problem. If you time the pineapple properly, it’s possible to get multiple kills.
He’s also got access to the M4 and BR16, which are excellent weapons at pretty much any range. Track properly, dink the watermelon and watch the Aces roll in, especially when coupled with a pineapple initiation.
I feel the comparison to Skydad and Arty is just a little off the mark. They all have access to the BR16, so I’ll ignore weapon selection.
Fragger’s pineapple is cookable, has a tiny cooldown (17s) and can be used indoors effectively.
Skyhammer’s marker isn’t cookable, is on a similar cooldown (20s IIRC) (the marker, not the strike) and can kind of be used indoors I guess. It’s really hard to get indoor kills with it because enemies can react, unlike a properly cooked pineapple.
Skyhammer’s strike has a big red indicator and a sound effect to indicate that GTFOing is an advisable course of action. It can be used to try to teamwipe, but is better for area denial (make them move out of cover and gun them down) and anti-EV.
Arty’s strike is absolutely useless indoors. It also has a big red indicator and serves as really good area denial, siegebreaking (taking out Aura boxes, mines and such) and anti-EV.
Fragger also has 20 health on those 2, making him an even better point man. Because he initiates, that 20 hp advantage can easily become a 50-60+ hp advantage. Skyhammer and Arty can frontline or point man, but are generally better when they can hold the line and push when they get an advantage. Fragger is about making that advantage.
Out of curiosity, what weapon have you been using? I like the K121, but I play much better with M4 and BR, partially because of the mobility and range advantages, mostly because I’m used to them.
Oh, I have no qualms with his usefulness. I use a K121 on him and clean house. But what I don’t get is how I can get fewer kills with Skydude and Artface and get a higher XP bonus at the end of a match. I think its probably the ammo packs, but it makes Fragger more of a fun merc than a merc I’ll use all the time. That’s all I’m saying. Personally I think he’s the most versatile of all three and his K121 is an absolute beast. Maybe he could get an ammo pack added, that works like Sparkie’s medpack? A smaller, longer recharge, ammo pack maybe?
I just feel like he needs a buff to XP bonuses in match. Maybe it’s just me.
I think combat xp in general is a little low. The only way to get high points with a assault is with badges or explosive spam
Arty and Sky can score support xp easily whereas Fragger can’t. Not to mention ammo badges are easy to get as well
