Does Aimee overshadow Vassilli too much?

My thoughts exactly - mobility can give her an element of surprise, but lack of machine pistol makes her slighly more vulnerable CQC comparing to Vas. If I’m able to score a quick bodyshot with Fel-IX I usually win the fight and if I miss, I draw the Kukri and charge.

SNITCH is definitelly more pro-active skill comparing to HBS, as it tempts you to utilize that sweet +25% damage debuff.

Personally I like Aimee for her primaries, her secondaries leave a lot to be desired but I never need them usually.

Its more of a buff for your teams damage.

The HB sensor ignores walls and is thus a lot more reliable at spotting. Vassili also has more HP and MPs which is nice.

Vassili definitely has the lower skill ceiling IMO, it’s easy to learn where to place the heartbeat sensor, get it to where you want it, and get it there without it being seen by an enemy than with the snitch, I’ve found that since the snitch can’t see through walls it’s useless in corners, the line gives it away when you throw it, and the arc is very difficult to adjust to, secondly, it takes one headshot with the PDP to kill Aimee, whereas it requires two to kill Vassili, Vassili has better secondaries apart from the revolver, which is meh at best for a Recon class. Aimee feels overpowered until you play as her.

True, you don’t need them usually, but eventually there comes a point (especially in 5v5 games) where as the sniper player you NEED to push up and engage in close range combat (usually if your whole team is dead and an enemy is on the objective in a position that can’t be engaged from long range). In that kind of situation, Vassili is obviously better (with his extra 20 HP and MP400), and that means that Vassili has a lot more versatility than Aimee.

In my opinion, Aimee is better for larger games (7v7 and 8v8) whereas Vassili is better for smaller games (5v5 and 6v6), because Aimee needs to rely on her team a lot more whereas Vassili does not (as he can rely on his close range efficiency to keep him alive when he gets pushed, and doesn’t have to retreat as much), and because Aimee’s Snitch is much more effective against larger numbers of enemies (so she improves her efficiency the more opponents there are).

I find them in great balance.

Aimee is more aggressive but Vasilli has more health.

Aimee debuffs her enemies with a pretty obvious detection tool when thrown but Vasilli has one that’s more obvious when deployed.

The Snitch relies on line of sight, the HBS detectis in a wide radius, even through cover.

what does everyone think?

Aimee being a sniper with an ability that has more utility and synergy than Vassilli’s, why should I pick Vassilli anymore?
In a sniper fight, Vassili loses to Aimee (because she’s a smaller target that can strafe faster with Quick Eye, while having the same 1-shot headshot kill potential).
In a close range encounter, Vassili beats Aimee (because he has 110HP against 90HP, as well as having an MP400 against a pistol).
In helping the team, Aimee is better than Vassili (her tagging ability is MUCH more potent).
In being self-reliant and independent, Vassili is better than Aimee (because he can be effective in more situations - eg close range - meaning he’s a more versatile combat merc, and is much better at going Rambo and clutching for his dead team by keeping an objective safe for those crucial moments before they can respawn again).

Basically, they’re perfectly balanced as it is (although I would say that the Grandeur and PDP need re-buffs, because they just got nerfed for some reason AND Aimee is most valuable if she has the FEL-IX anyway).
you two sum it up perfectly! if you are an agressive sniper you need quick eye and better movement speed. thats why i choose aimee, (thats why you should choose her as well). but if you are more laid back then vassili is the man for you.

you are wrong. vassili is still better than redeye. ask any respectable sniper and they will tell you to pick vassili over redeye any day. personally havent used redeye in months. and when i did it was just to have fun with the grandeur.

(neverplayseriou) #29

@Herr_Hanz vass is better for actual sniping (as in bolt action, seeing as redeye has no bolt action it makes sense :p) but redeye is way stronger than vassili overall.

(Herr_Hanz) #30

@neverplayserious i disagree. vassili has 2 weapons that can 1shot, and redeyes strongest weapon is the pdp, which vassili also has. redeyes smoke is viable in certain anti vassili situations, but can be a very big nuisance to his team, while a hearbeat sensor only helps the team.

the only thing redeye has going for him is 10 more hp, more spammable primary weapons for in close range. (vasssili has machinepistols though). redeye is only good as an anti vassili.

(neverplayseriou) #31

@Herr_Hanz I advice u to watch one of the dbn cups :stuck_out_tongue:

(Herr_Hanz) #32

@neverplayserious i know people are very good with redeye.

(frostyvampire) #33

Vassili will always stay the best sniper.

 1. He is the only sniper merc (atm.) that can use the MOA
 2. His HB sensor can detect people through walls and it’s so tiny and hard to see. Which means you can place it in spots where the enemy can’t destroy it without having a merc with the bombsquad augment pushing forward just to find it and after they find it they just die
 3. Not really something important but still counts, if you tradeup/tradein, you have a 2/3 chance of getting a good primary (FEL-IX or MOA), Aimee has only a 1/3 chance to get a good gun (FEL-IX) while Redeye can’t even use a bolt action so the best gun he can get is the Grandeur which isn’t too great
 4. HB Sensor recharges really fast, so even if it gets destroyed, soon you will get another one
 5. Vaseline

(DexterGrif) #34

Grandeur is a plus, which is why Aimee wins.
