Call me a weirdo, but so far I’m enjoying this unintentional event. It’s much more challenging, all about twitch reflexes and no RPG nonsese.
Do you enjoy this "Augmentless Event"?
I don’t mind it very much but i’d like them back already. I like those potent packs on sawbones, lock on on bush and so on a bit too much. Also i play skyhammer mostly for his loadouts not for his airstrike.
Augments aren’t crucial but bug does not make me feel any better about this game ever reaching a fully releasable state.
New content is great but I’d much prefer an improved core experience that won’t be ruined every time the game gets and update.
Honestly I love stuff like this. Usually it’s intentional, when games break things on purpose for april fools or whatever, but this works too. I hope DB does it a lot more
its… intreguing to say the least, that the game is barely different without augments, other than a maybe quick charge on sparks and drilled. Ive not even noticed the difference
First off, is this affecting all servers or just ranked? I hopped on for my dailies and missions and didn’t notice a difference but I may not have been paying much attention. That said, I would like it if we had some servers specifically for barebones, vanilla restrictions like this. Merc limits, no abilities, no augments, etc. That would be cool.
lol, instantly proving what a lot of us have known/said all along, primary weapon is what counts, augments only start to make a difference when one is highly skilled. Be interesting to see if it changes the public meta (likely not)
B)
I think it’s hilarious because some people are freaking out and others haven’t even noticed yet in game. It really speaks to how much SD has nailed the idea of augments: only SLIGHT changes to the loadout that don’t necessarily give one player an advantage over another.

Agree to an extent, but some of the passive augments like drilled and focus are invaluable. I used SM83 Nader over CR81 for a long time because having drilled, focus, and quick draw outweighed the strengths of the Crotzni itself + having bigger blast. Obviously the primary is important and player skill is the determining factor in most cases, though. This is why I always run with loadouts that are centered around gun play rather than abilities on everything that isn’t a medic. Abilities should be used to compliment your playstyle; your playstyle shouldn’t always revolve around your ability. I’m talking to you, Bushwhacker that panic drops his turret in the middle of a gunfight, Nader that compulsively pulls out the launcher in every scenario, Kira that would rather chase an enemy with the laser rather than finish ‘em off with a few shots, etc. I strongly disagree with a lot of what people commonly consider the best loadouts for any given merc because they are too dependent on making the ability stronger or cooldown faster. Augments like bigger blast and explodydendron mean nothin’ to me if the rest of the loadout is trash. Gun play first with passive augments on top of that. Always. Stuff like this is what I love running with:
Whew, rant over. Must’ve needed to get that one out for a while. ‘Hurr-hurr this loadout is best because it lets my rocket and fancy ability thingy cooldown 5 seconds faster, widens my blast radius by a small amount, lets me do slightly more melee damage, and lets me throw ammo packs out more frequently. It’s the best hurr-hurr!’ Yeah, and what’s that gonna do for you 90% of the time you aren’t using your fancy ability and have to rely on gun skill? crickets Not a thing.
There should be a new option in the server filter “augmentless”.
History shows, that video game glitches became features!
I DEMAND “AUGMENTLESS” AS A DB FEATURE!
Fletcher without Lock On makes me want to die, so no this kinda sucks.

Fighting fletchers without lockon makes me so much happier.
The only thing I mind is not having focus, but that’s a big one.
Just give everyone focus and repurpose the augment already.

What on earth do you mean by RPG nonsense? Fudging Jav still has her rocket launcher, and RPG means role playing game. DB isn’t a fudging role-playing game.
Anyway, I hate this bug. I seriously miss focus, flying pig, drilled and chopper. I feel some mercs actually need certain perks to feel good, such as get up on sparks, or extra supplies on Phoenix. I find myself choosing tankier more gun-dps wise mercs than the ones I used to rely on for fancy movement. I can feel myself moving sluggishly, slower than before. Relying on flying pig for that extra boost on my Aura is no longer possible, timing on that kind of thing is off.
I.e. Fragger, Sawbonez, Vassili, Bushwhacker, Phantom (hilariously he’s like untouched), Thunder is meh, and definitely not as much on Kira. Didn’t realize how much I abused focus on Kira and Fragger. I don’t know how many times I’ve reload cancelled at the wrong time because my muscle memory is off…

I hope SD doesn’t break a lot more. Just saying. Now if you mean hosts events like this for bug testing and balance testing or the likes? Sure! It’s a beta!
