Do we really need aimpunch?

(Mayple) #141

I do completely agree with you, however the new players should get some say as well but on different aspects of the game. Things like aimpunch and more intricate details are going to be noticed by the FPS veterans and the newer/more casual players are not going to notice it.

I did ask my friends if they noticed a difference and the ones that have competitive FPS experience all noticed it right away and hated it. The friends that didn’t have competitive experience either didn’t think anything of it until it was pointed out (some of them didn’t care some hated it).

Not on anything gameplay related. This game wasn’t marketed towards them, to cater to them would be to screw over the original targeted playerbase.

(tinyHouse) #143

All they need to do is add an option to disable it or enable it just like view bob and the sprint fov. Quake Live has an option to disable view kick or enable it. They can keep it enabled by default just like view bob so the casuals that cry about realism can keep it on while pros can turn view kick off just like they do with view bob.

I’m not saying to cater to them. However driving them away will kill the game just as much as ignoring the veteran players. For the fundamental game mechanics, the newer players should not have that much of a say, they don’t have the experience or knowledge to make good decisions on that matter.

Just because someone is newer does not automatically mean that their opinions have little to no merit. DB is in an interesting place as there really is only one gamemode. Its easier for a game like Halo that can cater to both sides by allowing someone to play an all rockets fun casual game and at the same time switch up the options to be a hardcore more competitive game.

I guess it’s kind of hard to explain, essentially everyone should be heard but a much larger emphasis should be placed on the veteran, experienced FPS players. Having someone provide a fresh view of the game is never a bad thing, and they may come up with ideas that the heavily invested veteran crowd may not.

Its almost impossible not to cater to casuals unless the graphics look like shit and the game doesn’t have any advertisement. No one can provide a good explanation for why view kick should be forced on just like you can’t really come up with a good explanation for why viewbob should be forced on. In this game View bob is on by default and casuals don’t give a shit if it was on or off by default untill they understood what the option was used for and some would turn it on for realism and some would turn it off. The devs just need to add an option to disable viewkick or disable it in options menu. Problem solved.

I totally forgot this game had view bob, disabled that shit the first time I started the game.

I feel like aimpunch favors SMGS?

(Nail) #148

aim punch has existed since alpha, it was worse at open beta and has been nerfed, the only reason anyone is saying anything, is it was noted in patch notes for the first time, that it had been changed. Some pootube wannabe scrub posts a misguided opinion on reddit, no one reads the replies from Splash and now it’s some huge gamebreaker. Bunch of sheeple

(RuleofBooKz) #149

u tell em nail

(Ghosthree3) #150

I read the replies from SD. I know it’s been around for a while. I’ve never liked it, but as the dev pointed out in his reply it is now sharper which makes it even more noticeable. I’m happy to use this excuse to get the whole thing pulled or reduced significantly tbh.

(Nail) #151

it’s been around since W:ET where it was huge in comparison to DB, it ain’t going anywhere

(srswizard) #152

Because people shouldn’t learn from past mistakes, they should just keep repeating them.

(Keldrath) #153

It sure does. Hochfir Nader with sprinting reload and focus is easiy the best Nader loadout now, because of the 811 RPM, even though the flinch distance isn’t as severe as higher damaging slower firing weapons, your aim will still get punched several more times per second, causing it to jerk out of control. Just run a Hochfir with Focus and laugh as you auto win against anyone not running focus themselves because they can’t shoot back anymore.

(Ghosthree3) #154

Wasn’t Focus proved broken? Placebo?

(Keldrath) #155
Wasn’t Focus proved broken? Placebo?
No, it works, even in hipfire.

It’s the best augment in the game atm.

Perhaps it was fixed in the last patch?

(Eddie) #157

Can’t aimpunch go already, It’s making the game feel slow paced imo.
It’s insane how my aim goes up when i get hit. Aiming for the head is useless now. Might aswell aim for the toes and get headshots.

Also Phantom should have no Armor on his cloaking ;’)

(Eddie) #158

Just remove it… for real… 85% wants it gone yet they keep it. Way to go -.-

It’s horrible 2v1 = ur fked.
Normally i could 3v1 but now 2v1 is just impossible

If i wanted to play a realistic game i would’ve gone back to Battlefield 4. This is a joke. Can’t even enjoy the game anymore with this aimpunch x.x

(KayDubz) #159

Aimpunch doesnt bother me. It just forces me to aim better, and the goal of FPS games like this one is good aim.

Seems like certain gamers dont want ANY sort of movement to their crosshair. The game already has perfectly steady aim even on the sniper class. And the recoil and spread was already a lot easier to manage than other FPS games Ive played. Seems like certain people wont be happy unless they find a shooter with zero sway/perfect steadiness, zero recoil, zero spread, and zero aimpunch. Because no matter what FPS game I play, people are complaining about any and all of those things.

I see nothing wrong with something that makes people aim better and get rid of easily shooting cross map without penalty. If someone hit you, then learn to adjust your aim.

I still am able to get whip around kills on people. And Ive still had people whip around on me and kill me, despite my getting the first shot in.

(Ghosthree3) #160

The proper way to force a player to readjust their crosshair is their enemy dodging. This also forces people to learn good dodge skills which is a huge part of FPS games.
