Do I Have the System Reqs?

(Grumpy) #1

Hello,

I’m thinking about getting Brink for PC. I’ve looked at the required and recommended specs but I don’t know if I could run the game without experiencing bad frame rate or other issues.

I have:

CPU1 : AMD Athlon™ II X2 Processor 240 (2.8GHz, 2MB L2 cache)

Operating System2 : Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Chipset : NVIDIA® GeForce® 6150 SE

Memory3 : 4096MB DDR3 dual channel (2 × 2GB)

Hard Drive4 : 500GB 7200rpm SATA

Video3 : NVIDIA® GeForce® 6150SE integrated graphics

Audio : High-definition audio with 5.1-channel audio support

I think that’s all. Here’s the requirements: http://www.splashdamage.com/content/brink-pc-gets-steamworks-system-requirements

Thanks!

Your video card is too low-end and is below the minimum requirements. See if your motherboard has on open PCIe port, maybe you can upgrade. You might need to also check the version and speed of the PCIe port.

The model number of your PC (or motherboard) would help here.

It’s an Emachines EL1352. Thanks for the info, all of these different models confuse me.

Any more digits after that? There seems to be quite a few variants of EL1352:

EDIT:
Seems like the “EL1352-03”
IF so, that model doesn’t allow replacing the video card.

As McAfee said, you need a graphics card

You can even say that the integrated video card is not compatible with OpenGL 3.1 if I’m not mistaking (sorry I just wanted to make the difference between under specced and incompatible)

also if you need a new video card, there is 99.9% chance you also need a new PSU

N ah, it probably is. Just that you’ll slideshow anyway. That config won’t even get ETQW working at proper frame rates. I remembered how I was out of ETQW for a month when my 8800GTX broke down and I was loaned an 8600GTS by the distributor. (yes, we have this service where I live; pretty standard as the competition’s high).

Ended up playing Company of heros during the month lol!

btw, his processor is also somewhat underspecced and unlike most game requirements, I’d believe the processor requirement for this game. remember how ETQW had better frame rates if you had a poor latency with a good processor?

Okay, let’s just give an example. Prey, a less demanding, non multiplayer game on the same engine runs on a Phenom II X4 905e(2.5ghz x4, full deneb cache) + HD3200 on linux at about 15-20 FPS 1280 X 1024 low settings.
