DLLs and SOs

Quick question:
Can I make valid .so files with MSVC 6.0? If so, how?
Thanks

Nope you can’t.

So, how do you make a .so file? I want to make my mod able to be used by more people.

You have to compile it in Linux. I can do it for you if you so wish it. To get in contact with me, email me at seph64@thephhortress.com or IM at SupaSeph64 (aim) or seph65@hotmail.com (MSN Messenger).

Of course if you want to do it yourself, just go grab a copy of Slackware 8.1 and install it on either a secondary partition, or on a second HDD. But this could be an inconveniance for you, which is why I offered to do it (compiling the source) for you.

You also might be able to convince cygwin to crosscompile to a linux .so

That also might be rather more work then sending your source to seph64 :moo:

never heard of a linux crosscompiler for win32…

but you can compile win32 dll’s on linux, its how we make etpro builds.

Hey you might just wanna try vmware if you dont have room for another os @ home www.vmware.com i beleive, you can run linux inside a window within windows and compile the source theyre…vmware is good for cross plat dev (but if your gunna install linux i recommend gentoo)
