DLC Release in June ?

(Wraith_shadow) #21

I dunno, it just seems like the whole thing is being handled pretty poorly. All the issues of brink at launch, all the customization options we never got, pushing back the Dlc with out giving a better date, putting a price on that dlc even though it was already supposed to be free. I hate to say it but with how little content this game shipped with, it’s having WAY too many issues.

That said, slowly but surely they’re working on them. I just hope they don’t pull a valve and release Brink2 a year from now making it everything Brink1 should have been.

My philosophy has always been to shake your fist in anger before the dev/pub fails to meet their initial estimated release date. That way, when they release early you get a pleasant surprise and when they miss their date you feel righteous indignation.

Ah, the life of a pessimist it a good one (despite what my parents tried to teach me).

I’m just not playing until the DLC comes out. Get back in yer hole horse.

Dude seriously? If you are happy with the current state of the game…great. Most are not. All is NOT fine with the game currently. What’s my biggest beef? No party lobbies + no DLC = low amount of players. AND when I do actually get in a “competition” game…it turns into a “warmup TDM” because we either can’t get enough players to join or people won’t ready up. TERRIBLE.

That is NOT entitlement as you like to say over and over. It’s just expecting the game to work like pretty much any other game currently on the market.

Pull a valve? For them to pull a valve they would first make a great game. And then promise a sequel and make it in 10 years.
I love how everyone is so quick to defend them, I like the game too but I’m not going to be treated like this the entire time I play SD games. Seriously though it’s my decision to return it, as it is anyone else’s to keep, but a lot of you sound like battered women standing up for their abusive husband. You’ll find any excuse so long as you can wrap your head around it, just make sure to keep some ready for the next time they do this.

I wouldn’t even be that ready to let the game go if they just… said something. It was supposed to be early june then late june then early july… and it doesn’t bother you guys that they haven’t even commented on it yet?
They never said “early June”. Other people said that because they wanted it to be true.
SD & Bethesda only ever said “planned for June” or “slated for June”. Both mean “hopefully in June” (Note: no indication of when in June). They go the patch in for MS certification at the end of June. As soon as MS are happy with it it’ll get released. Hopefully MS won’t drag its heels and it’ll be early July, but at this point it’s out of SD’s hands.

People are only pointing out the truth of what has happened. The amazing thing is how quickly people will pick up an incorrect rumour and run with it.

2 words: Valve time

For those of you not playing until the DLC comes out, it sounds like you’re expecting a miracle list of fixes that aren’t going to happen in one patch

Too many people want different things; there is no way SD can please everyone with this single patch. There’s going to be an awful lot of whine when the DLC does land over things I would never expect SD to go to the effort of adding.

I’m expecting tweaks but I think you’re going to be really bloody lucky to see things like lobbies

Well, we can dream can’t we?

Look, NOONE is expecting the game to be “fixed” when the DLC comes out. It’s just that ppl are done with the content they have been given so far. Avid players have not been given any further challenges.

You have to admit: There is not A LOT to this game. Having a non-existent campaign and no “forge” or gametype editor really limits the lifespan of this game. Consistent DLC with maps, weapons and abilities will be the only thing keeping the players going for months down the track.

It may seem shallow for those who can play these same maps over and over and still enjoy it, but we have come to expect a little more in our games these days. Sir Paul of St Wedgewood told us it would be an “immersive first person shooter”. But I’m not feeling immersed when my character has no personality, and the world of the Ark is not open for exploration.

So content is what we have to look forward to, and I’m BLOODY keen to get it in my hands.

really just want more maps. agreed?

(Zekariah) #31

Agreed. Weapons and abilities don’t even compare to the idea of exploring more of the Ark.

Sometime in July apparently

I can’t wait too. I wasn’t complaining though, I’m just trying to let people down softly  I have great faith in SD but they can’t please everyone.
