DLC question for SD

(sparky) #1

Hello SD, this question relates to a recent article that claims to have information on the upcoming DLC release, Agents of Change. Since the editor of said article claims to have accurate information, and in light of the fact that you have stated that you do not have a settled date (that you would let the public know when you have that info), would you please put this question to rest?

Do you approve of the release date of July 30th? or is the editor misinformed?

I phrase the question this way in order not to push. I understand if you are still working on the release and would rather say the date is still unreleased.

Thanks

To the point and highly respectful. BRAVO!

I second Spakry’s Q. It seems they have got it wrong on MTV, since that article was posted the same day SD/Beth said early July.

But who knows. I didn’t think consoles would get a stat page before the PC. SURPRISE! I didn’t think SD would go completely quite regarding the PC stats page either…but— SURPRISE

Here’s hoping!

SD already acknowledged this here:

http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28935&highlight=DLC+Microsoft+july

“Early July” does not mean July 30th. The only way it’ll be July 30th is if the DLC failed the Microsoft submission check and SD has to fix some stuff then re-submit.

(MrFoxer) #4

This really didn’t need a separate thread.

(SinDonor) #5

I concur. Yep.

(Bittermetal) #6

Maybe… But there is really nothing wrong about the way he did this. Pulled away and respectfully and directly addressed splash damage. I commend him. Where many other here are just disrespectful potty-mouths. Tsk tsk!

(R_Shackelford) #7

And “June” does not mean “early July.”

(SinDonor) #8

:sigh: SD never said it would be out in June.

(Bittermetal) #9

Nope. Verbatim - "On top of that, the Agents of Change DLC is just on the horizon, slated for release in June. "

Apparently it slid out of June to July. Let hope someone cleaned the uncertainty off that slate and that we’re locked in for a early July release… I hope early means you know… July 1-7

They actually had the DLC completed in June, but with the 1-2 weeks of MS/Sony submission testing, it’ll fall into early July. I’d rather them take their time, this time, than release more bugs.

Also, that June quote was from “Nick” on the Bethesda Blog (not SD blog)

…and here’s that blog’s disclaimer:

Yep…

Easy there tiger, in a few days, in a few days…

(zenstar) #12

“Slated” and “Planned” both basically mean “hopefully we’ll have it done by”.
I’m sure if things went smoothly and there weren’t things like massive hacking issues / large balance patches they probably would have gotten it into June.
They missed their optimistic deadline by a couple of weeks. It happens. It’s not the end of the world. It will be here soon. They never made any HARD promises and the only other thing that they’ve said about date has basically been forum posts saying “when we have a firm date that will not change we will let you know”.

(Kurushi) #13

There was no mention of an editor or a release date of June by SD so I wouldn’t expect either.

(wolfnemesis75) #14

They did say it would come out in June. So until it is on the download queue, all dates are subject to change. Tells me that there is no firm date.

(Nexolate) #15

It’s in for submission at Microsoft/Sony atm isn’t it? Hopefully it doesn’t take too long so we can get all that DLC goodness.
Not much game content comes out during the summer, so I doubt their lists are too long currently.

Regards,
Nexo

Oy vey. What a lame pile of apologetics. I’m not even making a big stink about it, I’m a patient individual, but this parsing of semantics is pathetic.

They didn’t say July of 2011, either. So I guess we shouldn’t say anything if the 31st comes and goes with no DLC. (I don’t expect that to happen, but if we’re going to play Little Lawyers, then those are the facts of the case, your honors).

In fact, the current statement is that “we expect it to release in early July,” which is even more non-committal than “slated for release in June,” so it’s pretty hypocritical to give someone a hard time for offhandedly speculating at July 30th.

I love the game, and I’m enjoying it fine without the DLC, but stop getting so needlessly defensive on SD’s behalf. The fact is that SD likely has little to no say on when the DLC will be released (MS/Sony approval notwithstanding), considering that the publisher is the one that decides when content gets published.

Pretty much how it is at the moment, unfortunately. All a waiting game.

This comment made me laugh. Reminded me of the end of Ren & Stimpy episodes where Stimpy asks when they will be back and Ren says, “In a little while man!” and Stimpy responds “How long is that?!”

My wife is a dev. at a software company and she says that any time their company publicly announces a release month for a new update they mean the last day of that month.

leaping and bounding to conclusions. My point was that they said slated for…which means its the plan but not set in stone. So sit tight.
