[QUOTE=Oschino1907;329512]I get your grief here but no one makes you play with higher leveled people, you can choose to play your rank and below only, or your rank and above. Also the things being added arent that over the top and for anyone 20 or higher and besides i have joined many of matched lower ranked then others and I never had a huge problem cause of others being ranked to high. …

Yeah, I haven’t really had a problem with this in Brink so far, but if they keep adding more levels, that will likely change.
What happens after they raise the level cap? What happens when DLC #2 raises it again? Now all of a sudden I’m to a point where it’s going to take me a month or more just to level a new character. And I don’t really want to play a crippled game with only other characters of X level. It’s just not fun. I want to play in a game full of completely maxed characters that have access to all the abilities and weapons. That’s where the game is “balanced”. That’s the game as it is intended to be played.
And that’s the game I want to play. It’s just really annoying that in addition to buying the game, there’s this little stipulation that “oh yeah, you also have to put in 20 hours of grinding before you’re allowed to play the full game.” And now, a month later, we’re going to extend that amount of time, because we don’t feel that there are quite enough hoops for you to jump through before we allow to you play the full game.
Leveling and unlocking in a multiplayer competitive game is nothing more than a barrier to entry. I presume it’s there to hold the attention of the ADD crowd, but I don’t know. I do know that it will drive me away because when I have a few spare hours to play games, I want to play. I don’t want to have to do “virtual work” to earn the right to play.
As I said, I’m OK with it in Brink as it is now because I can deal with the relatively short period of it as is. It’s disconcerting to see that the very first major update is going to add nearly 20% to that phase of the game though. Leveling works in an RPG, where the journey IS the game. It has no place in a competitive multiplayer game though, in my opinion.
Beat me and my team with your superior skills, not with your superior “hours played award”.
