DLC hits July 30th?
You can stop waking up and checking the forums everyday, DLC will arrive on July 30th.

Wow, I feel loved from behind. And getting this info from the MTV page even tops it. But nevertheless I’ll keep playing this game. All my complaints exhausted me allready so I’ll just shut up and wait and hope.

Brink is dead. period.

Yes, you can find a couple folks on xbox live to play with now and then, but you can find the same if not more amount of people on games that have been out for years. Brink has only been out for 2 months. That would be a failure for just about any game with online capability, but it’s compounded by the fact that Brink is basically a multiplayer only title.

Just put it in perspective here: 2 months. Judging by the online scene it wouldn’t be a bad guess to guess Brink has been out for at least 2 years.

I’m glad people are having fun with it and that people still play, don’t get me wrong, it’s just hard to ignore the fact that the online community is pitifully small for a game that’s been out for ~60 days.

At the very least, the community deserves some kind of response. Splash Damage, it’s okay if you just come out and say it’s not early July, we all know that. At this point it doesn’t even matter if it’s July period because most of the people that were on the fence are already all gone. The only people left at this point that care about the DLC will sill be playing Brink whether they have a DLC or not. So how about just a status update for us? It could be August 31 and you still wouldn’t lose many players that are playing now because most everyone who had issues Brink have already left.

Basically if you’re no longer stringing any potential customers along, why not give something?
Hell, why not just say the DLC isn’t coming at all because there’s no support for your game?

You guys ****ed up. Give us some kind of news. You don’t have anything to lose at this point by giving us bad news - it’s still better than no news.

(Smokeskin) #23
They expect THEIR DLC to be released early July…so, you think that means…uhm…nothing?
In my case, thats a “kind of” promise. A promise they broke.
Or, maybe it means they expected it early July. Expected.

That’s not a promise.

And lets not get our panties in a bunch about a software developer that suffers delays. It happens all the time.

Check this out: the people at Splash Damage thought it would be a good idea to repost their blog articles from late June: http://www.facebook.com/brinkthegame
The more I hear about you people, the less respect I have for you as a company. This deceptive bull**** needs to stop. Fix the ****ing game, and shut the **** up with your deceptive marketing.

(rushzone.com) #25

A rumor release data is just as bad as you guys saying the DLC will be released “In June or Early July”.

(kilL_888) #26

they never said it “will” be released. it was always “planned” for release…

people need to understand and differentiate these terms.

You do realise that all marketing is Bethesda (the publisher) and not Splash Damage (the guys fixing your game) right? Even the information that SD do give you has to be checked by Beth before they’re allowed to post it.
You need to get your facts straight and blame the correct people.

I’m not saying SD are spotless in the whole thing but if you’re QQ’ing over information then talk to Bethesda, not SD (who are gag ordered by contractual obligations).

While I agree, SD should also understand that using vagueness and ambiguity in every instance of PR, is going to generate backlash.

People expect at least some substance from those whose job is explicitly to interact with and inform the players. “…expect…late June or early July” is not substance, is completely open to interpretation (what is “early”), and is now moot as we’re now at the halfway mark in July.

I understand that there are contractual restrictions to what they can and cannot say… but there’s nothing that’s stopping them from saying that (i.e. “at this time, we cannot comment as to when the DLC will be available”). At least at that point, we know it could be a while… instead of being led to believe it’s just around the corner.

(Solarcrest) #29

nah what pissed me off was that they re-posted old bethblogs on facebook today acting like it was new info

blowing smoke,

(wolfnemesis75) #30

everyone is ticked off at not getting the DLC, but it’s out of our hands. all you can do is wait it out with the rest of us. scratch another slash on the wall of the asylum. ////X ////X
////X ////X ////X ////X :mad:

(zenstar) #31

Depends on the contract. For example a clause saying something like “Bethesda must OK all communications to the public including, but not limited to, blogs, forums, newspapers, facebook, interviews, telephone conversations to the developer’s family, things whispered in dreams and that annoying voice in the back of your mind.”
With a clause like that Bethesda could stop them from saying even “We can’t comment at the moment” if they felt like it.
And breaking contracts can be very expensive, especially if they’re written up properly.

(Oschino1907) #32

Love the game, but really got to say I disslike the PR people, WTF are they even being paid for, seems like ANYONE of us could do the same job… You know just throwing out some vague dates every few weeks and very minimal info about the content… Even if they can only give us so much info on details about it (although I doubt anyone is telling them not to release more screens or info on DLC content) there still is no reason to not atleast throw out a few tid bits to us atleast letting us know they are doing every they can (if they are) and thats its no longer in their hands.

But at this moment with all the time waiting it just raises questions and frustrations. Like I said from what I have seen from the PR department it comes off like ANY half assed person could post up obvious and general vague info as is done now, the PR skills come in when dealing with and helping to explain/calm the nerves of those patiently waiting for weeks and weeks. Sorry but the frustrations are mounting and due to past experiances outside of DLC issues I can feel pretty confident in saying the PR dept sucks and gives the lamest responses and reasoning at times, not all the time at all but fairly often as 1 time is already 1 time too many…

Still wondering BADMAN how you can tell youself let alone publically on the forums that its fair that some people can buy all the DLC codes and have more weapons (and greeneye scope) then others when this game is all about balance and fairness, its totally contridicts that. Having doubles of possibly the best/most used guns (stats wise identical to others) DEF gives you an unfair IN GAME advantage especially as a light body type. Dont spoon feed me BS and tell me its fair in anyway when you know you are lying through your teeth when you say it.

(Jess Alon) #33

People should keep in mind even if everything is bethesda’s fault. They can’t tell you this. You can’t throw your publisher under the bus. If someone hired you to do a job would you seriously publicly denounce them? So if you work for a business that’s not doing well and it’s your boss’s fault… you can’t even explain why to the public at large. And you’re the one on the front line so YOU will be the one that gets crapped on.

To those of you who say Brink is dead. Take your killjoy drum and go home. I can find a full match almost any time of the day on xbox live. So I don’t know what you’re talking about. And I think I’ll see more when the DLC drops. But then again I’m not a CoD follower who has friends who are also CoD maniacs who is complaining because brink was too hard and my friends turned in their copies.

I knew what to expect with Brink. And yeah my high expectations weren’t met. But if I had high expectations of perfection for everything I wouldn’t be a happily married man either.

So seriously, if you feel slighted. Just get over it. SD is not going to massage your ego and make you feel better because they have bigger things to deal with right now.

The green eye scope is just a reskinned red dot. It doesn’t improve your skill. The machine pistol pre-order is the exact same as the belgo. The carb skins are just that “skins”. I have the caesar revolver which is identical but just cooler LOOKING then the ritchie. The suppressor soda can silencer and the security version of it just provide most aesthetic. They are the same as the standard silencer.

Tell me how any of these give anyone an advantage over someone who didn’t pre order?

Besides aesthetic value?

Green eye lets you see more of the battlefield than the red dot scope or something like that; doesn’t really matter though as even with sights its still spray’n’pray.

By the way, Jess, it isn’t that the game is too hard (it’s too easy lol) or that we’re CoD maniacs, but there’s only 530 people online right now and that’s mostly European players. The American players sometimes don’t even have enough on to top the Top 100 (that means less than like 300 ~ 400 people on) list on Steam. Last night BRINK had less people on than indie titles who didn’t have advertising or the hype like BRINK. It’s that the game is just that bad that no one wants to play it until they fix stuff and even then the boost in players will only be temporary.

Honestly I like the small community we have online. It’s mostly mature players, clans, and really talented brink players. Not a lot of little kids. We occasionally get a group of total noobs that we own.

That’s probably one of the reasons that the community is small. People learn the game well and they dominate the other players. Those players then ragequit.

but thats exactly what they do right now. they dont comment. is it really necessary to create an official thread here that points out “we cannot comment”…? i dont think it is.

there is no need to repeat their official statement either.

anyways, my magic eightball tells me that we will see a new statement soon.

(Crytiqal) #39

Jess wake up and smell the coffee

this game was marketed for large, being developed for 3 platforms.
having a small community (500) only states that the game has flopped, bigtime

Sorry but did you even read my whole post? I dont see how its not obvious… You have more overall weapons, same stats doesnt mean anything at all (esp when they are easy the best/most used guns), its still another gun and another gun that you can set up diff from others. If you but them all you have 4 more overall weapon set up choices, if youre a Light you now have 33% more guns and 40% more pistols. How hard is this to understand (I have explained this XX number of times now in other threads), when you have two of a gun whats stops you from having the best of both worlds with one for speed, range or silencing and the other at the opposite end of the spectrum. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of having to choose one set up over another. Should have been 1 DLC code per account or have them to purchase for all down the road, but Badman has said on the forums there are no plans for that.

Think about it, those who buy the game new all get 1 extra gun, those who buy it used get ZERO and those you feel like spending the money can have 4extra guns, again same stats doesnt make it ok at all when they are the same as other very popular and deadly weapons. Come on its like having 2 bulpdauns, 2 carb 9s, 2 Ritchies and 2 belgos while everyone just has 1 or just 2 of one gun.
