well, it could be worse if a woman cuts of your penis and throws it out of a moving car.
or, even worse, if the dlc is not out tomorrow, eh, today. its tomorrow already. eh… gn8 flks. no dlc for me today, eh, yesterday.
c’mon, how many times can you drop the ball SD, or Bethesda, or whoever is responsible for the DLC not being available? Brink is and has been an utter train wreck…
Maybe if you hit purchase for that time it was up for 5 minutes. Otherwise its nowhere on steam.
Grabbed it just now, did not realize it must have been included in the last update, as all Steam did was download something for a split second and it was all there.
Being I am a new player to the game, I am one of the people who purchased it from Amazon for $20 last week, I will get my moneys worth, but I do understand why people who were there from the beginning have a chip on their shoulder.
So far my biggest disappointment is how it performs. I have 2 GTX 460’s in SLi, and they run every other game smooth as can be. With Brink, only way to get a consistent 60 FPS is to not check any of the “advanced” graphical settings and keep shadows on Medium. As soon as I choose any of those settings, the game starts getting in the low 40’s. Acceptable for some I imagine, but not acceptable for a PC gamer, at least IMO.
So the bad performance on PC really just emphasizes how this was a clumsy console port, but it is still enjoyable to me for $20.
Runs very well for me with mostly maxed settings (barring SSAO) @ 2560x1600 on a GTX480.
Try turning off SSAO (that’s always a killer for my system).
Doesn’t feel like a console port to me…
 Steam says that the DLC is nearly 6 GB. I’m guessing that it’s actually around 500 MB and that Steam is making me redownload the entire game even though Brink works fine and i only want the dlc. W.T.F.
New day… downloading with 250kb on a 32Mb line.
crazyfoolish, did you rename files like the videos?
My experience today with the DLC as far as availability US Eastern 1 o’clockish in the afternoon is concerned was…
I see steam downloads an update (less than 100mb, something like 40mb). I hop and play with new costumes! I choose limey, what can I say??? I am a sucker for Soderbergh! Since I had no new ability points to spend I didn’t take notice of the abilities that were to be included. I play some maps but it was exactly the same thing but now with the possibility of appearing different to other players. Did I really have the DLC? I reserved judgement and glad I did because later there was a 480mb update that included the maps and other updates.
Bit of a headache. OCB guys have an updated server but after downloading 480mb update I cannot connect to it. More than half the 20 or so people in our TS channel cannot either (if the update was even available in their region). We have a player in Canada who does not have the update available at that time and several in various European countries (other various European countries had it available). We all brainstorm how to solve the Updated Brink doesn’t work problem. I irritate some of my pals by insisting they take steps they have already taken several times (click DLC button in game, restart steam, blah blah). Oh yeah, right, I have the update already but cannot connect to updated server! Ok, I verify game cache. Steam redownloads update in-full (wut?). I restart steam and finally connect to the new world in glorious DLC-VISION (I took a nap)!!!
“The Steam servers are too busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes.” for 12 hours now. I guess Valve Time applies here
mna, im so sick of steam. nothing works right, ever!
what was wrong with buying a game, registering the serial and downloading patches? you know, like it used to work flawlessly 10 years ago.
so, the PC being the easiest to patch by far and working europe still doesnt have the game.
ummm the way it has always worked and for longer than 10 years is that as soon as something is available for download it gets swamped or something breaks. this includes stand-alone patches before steam. rarely anything to do with content or media going live has gone flawlessly.
This, pretty much. Steam works well 99% of the time for me. The only time I have issues with it is when there are new releases (as NADE explained) or when I’m messing around with non-Steam games or tabbing-out a lot.
Not sure where Smoochy’s gettting “nothing works right, ever” from.
