Dividing Classes in to Ranged and Melee, whilst merging overlapping and weaker mercs.

There are a few overlapping mercs and weaker mercs which aren’t used much and this could be easily sorted by merging them.

So we have 2 types of character for each class a melee/close quarters and a ranged one. 10 in total.

Soldiers:

Close Quarters: Rhino given Thunders Nades

Ranged: Fragger given Naders grenade launcher.

FieldOps:

Close Quarters: Skyhammer given Stokers incendiary nades.

Ranged: Kira given Arty’s artillary, afterall she has laser pointer for sunbeam at range.

Engineer

Close Quarters: Proxy (given fletchers sticky nades)

Ranged : Turtle (when he comes along, given bushwackers turret)

CovertOps:

Ranged: Vasseli given aimees TEC

Close Quarters: Redeye given Phantoms abilities as well + concusion grenades.

Medic:

Close Quarters: Pheonix given Auras health station

Ranged: Sawbonez given Sparks revive gun

It would also enable a limit of 5 mercs for each match, whereby in lobby screen you choose 1 merc from each class, 5 mercs in total. So you have the tactical choice of choosing mercs for each match and the variety that DB has but that familiarity of 5 classes in game to choose from, that we had in ET.

It doesn’t make any sense to classify ranged/melee as all merc are ranged except phantom. Your post is confusing :0

Just some mercs are better in close quarter battles than others eg shotgun and nades vs assault weapons and arty etc. I should really have said close quarters not melee. Just trying a way to sort out classes, that’s all, sorry for confusion.

No point in having any merc being close quarters unless they have a shotgun, given how overly strong shotguns are in this game.

Basically, I think they want to be adding mercs, not cutting them down. That is how they monetize the game. If you want to categorize them besides the medic, sniper, soldier, field ops, you will have to do it for all of them.

I would think one of the ways to successful monetization (in an online game) would be to give the user more choices.
I reckon we need more mercs!!
