Unlike team fortress (which is the only game i have played in which you can disguise as the other team) when you disguise in brink it seems you take on the appearance of the person that you took down. If there is only 7 other people on your team and someone on your team looks exactly like you, won’t it be extremely easy to spot a disguised spy? It’s not like there’s going to be other people in your team who chose the same clothes and accesories for their character.
Disguises
The ‘victim’ of the disguise, will be able to see the Operative take their uniform. So the rest of their team can be informed that there is someone else that looks like them. Interestingly enough, not only do they take on their clothes, they also take on the form of the players physique. However from my understanding they will not be able to perform abilities of that physique, so thats another way you can spot them.
The other thing about the disguise gameplay, in games such as ETQW, the two factions sounded differently when they walked - so you could spot a person in disguise by listening to their footsteps. Whether or not SD have decided to include that at all- or whether or not they decided to make the distinctions in sound via bodytypes… i dunno.
Hope all that helps.
You would be surprised how many people don’t notice disguised enemies despite been told there is one lurking around.
the factor here is chaos. When there is a lot going on, you really don’t have time to spot disguises well.
For an average person that is, most skilled players don’t have trouble spotting in ET or QW.
Man, I hope they don’t take over the physiques of the person they take the disguise from.
Only their clothes and weapons.
Taking over their bodytype and appearance is just so unnatural and weird.

In same way a human could look like a strogg and a strogg look human in etqw?
Or in same way any white axis class can look like black allied field ops in ET?

Im fine with it, as I think its too obvious if theres a skinny version of a player who always plays as a heavy.
I wont see my team mates name?
I didnt know that - do you have a link mate, thanks.

what i mean is:
once you disguise you will take on every characteristic, body size and looks, and the name as well, so it won’t be at all obvious that your a spy for the other team. The guy you took the disguise from will now, but well, they always do
what i mean is, say you take a disguise from a guy wearing a hochey mask with no shirt, ripped jeans and a tattoo on his arm if anyone sees you and then the guy whose clothes you stole they will know one of you is a spy because you both look exactly the same. If when the guy whose clothes you stole respawns and sees you he will know instantly you are a spy.
I always preferred how disguises worked in ET, being able to shoot with your disguise still on was alot more fun than the ETQW one.
The strogg shields in ETQW really took away the covert ops main abilities of being able to sneak a small team to the last obj and letting them in as well. The back entrance on Sea wall battary and the doors on fueldump were always cool to sneak through.
So yeah the ET covert ops was alot more fun.
Its done similarly in QW where classes are distinct, and you can see the players name, so i dont expect the mechanics of the disguise to change much.

what I meant was - if you were a skinny and you took a heavy guys uniform, someone would pretty much be able to spot you, on the basis that they know the guy who plays heavy is never a skinny. Now thats obviously predicated on whether we can see the names of our team mates to make that assertion.
Which is why, I think taking on the physique as well makes it less obvious
Wasn’t it mentioned that you do take on their physique, but can’t do their actual physical abilities? You could be a skinny and take on the look of a heavy… if you go vaulting over high areas that a heavy can’t normally reach, then that’d be the give away.
Could go be going completely mad but i was sure i read that
If thats the case then its best to use a light class for the covert ops.
That way you can move how you want, fast or walk around to give the impression you are a light or heavy. Not sure how the weapons fit in though.
Well, as for WolfET I could always come up with some reason that like you put on some paint on your face to look like a black field ops
ETQW had some special cloaking technology and the strogg would just wear your corpse like Hannibal.
But for BRINK I cannot come up with a satisfactory explanation for myself how a skinny guy becomes heavy and vice versa, so I think it’s weird
Just stealing the outfit would be much more realistic.
