Disguises and their usefulness

(Herandar) #21

Every time I watch the vid I wonder why he doesn’t slide/melee kill the guy on the MG. Wasting the disguise, blastic him from point blank like that.

I guess the gun blasting is more visceral.

Even if he melee’d him his disguise still would have brrn broken from getting too close to an enemy

(Cankor) #23

How do you know this?

(.TehTank.) #24

OH Woops sorry i looked again and its if you get to close to The person your disguised as your disguise is compromised. My bad.

(Mad Hatter) #25

Melee’ing someone probably drops it too, since it’s not a OHK. That means that at least the person you’re whacking/shanking will know you’re an Operative, and your ruse will most likely be over at that point.

The way I see it is that the disguises are for sneaking past enemies to get to their command posts and whatnot. Or maybe to get one surprise kill.

Just gotta avoid the guy whose clothes you stole and any enemy Operatives. Hm…

Agreed it seems disguises as we know about them seem more for getting behind the lines and not blending into the team.

(Striker92) #27

You could stab mulitple times and still be in disguise in ETQW, so maybe you wont drop ur disguise instanly in brink. But i guess we cant tell till we try it :stroggbanana:

(DarkangelUK) #28

I said it in another thread and I’ll say it here, ET did it well with the fact that there were faction specific doors, and a disguised operative could open them and let friendlies in the back… awesome option was awesome.

(Cankor) #29

The whole thing about sliding makes me wonder if you can accidentally knock your own team mates down, and if so if it’s dependent upon having FF on or not.

(Humate) #30

If by know you mean knock - the game has anti collision does it not?

(Cankor) #31

yeah (edited it). I forgot about that.

(Humate) #32

All good

Back on topic - I think given the various methods a disguised operative can be caught, its only logical that there are multiple uses for them. We know they can lose their disguise if they shoot, but do they lose their disguise if they use an ability? Can they spot mines, can they auto-spot the enemy in this state?

Theres got to be more to it, than using them to cap CPs.

(tokamak) #33

Oh sea-wall battery, where people were yelled at if they jumped down to the beach as that would hand the allies their clothes.

Amazing.

(Auzner) #34

That was easier with larger teams. You just have a medic, rifle nade, and field op camp the back. Nades get launched out now and then, field op resupplies and calls artillery in. Medic makes sure they stay healthy from blasts through that MG window. Or exploit and have two medics continually backpedal against the door.

(Herandar) #35

I thought it is a OHK when the target is knocked down?? But yeah, incap =/= knocked down, I guess. I hope melee attacks don’t remove the disguise.

(Humate) #36

I’m hoping disguised players can at least use their abilities/perks/tools to help their team because it seems there are far too many ways to get caught with a disguise. In etqw they were pretty limited, so no one bothered with them.

(Wraith) #37

I was still hoping a dev would comment on this. Still no luck.

(harpy515) #38

I’m new here and only just saw the new video of disguises. IMHO disguises will be used by rookies and will easily be countered at first. Then some people will become very with them, just like the spy in TF2. But they will never make it into competitive play because it is to easy to spot somebody who should not be there.

(Wraith) #39

Missed some words there and welcome to the forums. :stroggtapir:

Haha sorry about the grammatical errors. I was watching the UK basketball game so I was kind of distracted.
