Disabling machine gun emplacement?

(Talak) #1

Is there a possibility that we will be able to disable and repair machine gun emplacement like we were able to in ET:W? It made storming the beach on Battery much easier when players took the time to disable the two turrets in the bunker.

I like this idea. It adds a lot more secondary objectives to the game. Some might even consider these ‘tertiary’.

One problem might be the MG on chapel where you have to repair the ramp first. Maybe make the gun destructible/repairable but change the ramp to being a fixed structure instead.

It would definitely make getting Objective Monkey done a lot easier (even though it’s still pretty quick).

That reminds me of Brink, MG nests were dismantled before players could use them an engineer had to repair it, would be nice, but at the same time maybe a bit more MGs around in that case.

It might actually give a decent purpose for the mechanic augment(if they ever make it work).

Dunno, the turrets already have a down side, they need cool down time, and you are stationary.

I like this idea, on Chapel, the defenders could blow up their own MG right next to their spawn, to avoid flanks. Cool tactics.

This thread is more relevant than ever with the release of Dome.

The machine gun turrets near the brew gate and red gate are often used against the defenders in stage 1. In stage 2 the firing lane at the clock tower corner offers fantastic coverage for defenders, but the CDA turret is often used against the defenders to protect the c4. The turret at the silo nest isn’t as big an issue because it can be easily flanked from the collapsed roof.

I dont know, I dont find machine gun turrets to be so strong to begin with, they make you an easy target to just get headshotted, their gun has an immense spray and theyre only present on few parts of the maps to begin with.
On Dome however they went full retard with these things but I dont feel your idea is the right solution to that, they should just remove some.

Tying it to a generator like the secondary-objective doors would be a great way to take one out without being in its line of sight.

Turrets aren’t an issue in competitive play, but in public matches players tend to get wiped. It was a system that worked well in ET:W. I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t in Dirty Bomb.

I’m not sure how it’s done, but I’ve already seen turrets get destroyed on occasion. Have you guys tried using explosives?

Remember that generators can be destroyed by shoting them lots. You technically don’t have to use C4. Turrets might be the same.
