Disabling/Changing the Tilda (~) Key

(Whoisthis) #1

I don’t see anyway of remapping this key. I realize this is a normal key for the console, but its placement right next to one of the weapon selection keys isn’t optimal. I tried to change it in controls but it isn’t mapped. I hate to say this is a bug, but it really should be considered one.

It’s not a bug, it’s hard to unbind for a reason.

Anyway, open up ShooterInput.ini and find the line ConsoleKey=Tilde under [Engine.Console]. Might need to make it read only after making the changes you want.

Thanks. I don’t understand why it would be hard to unbind. 99% of people I’m pretty sure have no reason to ever bring it up. Seems like poor placement for a relatively unused key.

Because if you accidentally bound it to nothing you could be screwed if you didn’t know to go into the ini files to fix it. Losing access to the console would be horrible.

The + key seems like a much better spot for it…or F12.

(Ghosthree3) #6

F12 = steam screenshot by default, and a ton of recording software’s hotkey as well. In fact it’s just a popular hotkey.

Fine the + key then. In any case…I should be able to select it without hacking into the files.

The ~ key is default console command for a lot of games. This is by design.
