Disable chat in "Competitive"

^As the title says, please disable the chat while playing. Why? I played so many competitive matches, and in most of them, I saw people quarrel each other for REALLY stupid reasons and for that, being useless for the team. Maybe re-enable it in the “MID-GAME” Screen for few seconds and in the end of the match. For the trolls, no, only the chat for all disabled, not the Team chat.
Please, tell me if it’s a bad idea, If I made mistakes, sorry. o:)

I think you are right in the community being toxic, but I don’t know if this is exactly the answer. I also don’t really see how it solves anything

Eh, I think, as many others suggested, being able to mute people both in voice chat and in chat box on either team.

I believe that this is the better solution than muting it for everyone. Oppressing the none toxic people because of some scrubs bashing at each other isn’t effective.

yes, i think Raw is right. i don’t care about the chat spam but those stupid, silly people spamming in the voice chat real pisses me off!

Doesn’t matter if you, personally, ignore it. Toxicity breeds more toxicity.

Team chat obviously can’t be muted in a team game. Global could go in competitive matchmade games. Not always negative but rarely adds something positive from what I’ve seen

Muting everyone would make competitive more like pubs.

And I know… Competitive is already like pubs, but it would be worse if you couldn’t communicate a game changing plan.

For competitive playing voicechat is a good idea but did not work in any game i know. for playing wars/cups/etc better use your own voicechat.

The real issue is how many careless and terrible players get into competitive. They need to raise the level requirement for sure. The whole reason there are “silly” arguments is from there being people who do stupid things like decide to be the 2nd or 3rd proxy on their 5-man team with no medic or skyhammer. Or to play medic but only heal themselves. Etc. We’ve all seen plenty of this.

I just don’t understand why people who aren’t even remotely good at the game queue up for competitive in the first place. It can only lead to horrible matches and disgruntled teammates. Then they’re the ones calling their vocal teammates toxic even though they’re the ones explicitly ruining the game by being unreasonably bad, selfish or counter-productive.

Raise the level cap and place a max of 2 per any merc on a team. That’d go a long way to cut down on what the OP is talking about.
