DirtyCups.gg Closes Its Doors

RIP DB ! it was fun a moment, but there is …

  • No anti cheat (super cheater fest !!)
  • No dedicated server rental (can’t train as a team, can’t set a cool place to play, nothing …)
  • Few boring maps (Still waiting something, but I don’t know how long I will wait !)
  • and an horrible Net code (worst every update since sparks)

-> straight into the wall !

+1

  • bad performance optimisation.

Dirty Bombs has so much potential, but they need to get their darn priorities straight. Anti-cheat ABOVE any other content released. Hackers in Dirty Bomb is a very rapid growing problem.

RIP Dirtycups.

The “its still beta” excuse doesnt play. Once the game hits open status and is available to everyone, certain things should already be taken care off. This thing just has too many holes right now. People will be driven away and it doesnt matter if all of the stuff is eventually fixed or not, the players will just move on. Saw it happen in Brink, everything was fixed in the end, but nobody gave a **** anymore, the game was dead long before the patches came out. Some of us didnt even bother giving it another go and just moved to something else.

EDIT: competition also just cant work, you are always filled with doubt if the opponents are cheating or not. i for one am certain fair number higher ranking teams have/had people take advantage of the poor AC. Played my fair shrae of comp games during the years to know when things are not right.

Sad to see them go of course but it is their own decision. If you put your free time into providing a service for a community it is for you to decide what is and is not a deal breaker. Some said they dont like the passive agressive nature of the post but I dont see anything wrong with using your position to try and impact decision making. They are simply letting SD know how bad they think it is on their end of it are using their lobby to direct dev efforts the way they deem most important. Its nothing else than a counter to the massive “we just need new mercs and maps” that they are getting on steam forums. As long as it isnt done in melodramatic way I dont see an issue.
Lets hope something good for the comp community comes out of it and they resume their service at some point.

edit:

i wonder how long it took whoever made the side to get the forum rolling, probably like 0.1% of time spent by the Nexon IT people xd

Not comparable. Don’t get me wrong, Nexon’s forum and site is awful.

But using a wordpress template and not having to worry about migrating account databases or even linking them, and throwing up an actual support ticket system is not even close to comparable. dbnation is literally… just a 1click template, just as dirtycups was. There goes a lot more on, on the backend of nexon’s site than dbnation has to ever even think about having functionality for.
