Dirtybomb Competitive Matches (VODS)

(potty1) #1

I know there are a LOT of people on these forums who are completely out of the competitive loop. I have been somewhat absent from pushing the competitive scene for a while but seeing as nobody pushes it here I thought i’d try get the Competitive side of Dirtybomb a few new viewers, players or fans!

For those who don’t know what format gets played yet; Dirtybomb is played 5 vs 5 on Stopwatch mode. I know that most public’s are open to Execution and Objective modes. Friendly fire, unlike public’s or match making, is always turned ON. Each match in this cup was played best of 3 maps.

So for those who missed the competitive cup that happened this weekend just gone here is a long VOD with plenty of action of good teams playing!

If you are looking at getting into competitive gaming, check out www.dbn.gg and go to their forums. Alternatively check the “recruitment” section on these forums to get into a team and work your way to the top!

If you have any questions please fire them away!

As your other post has been moved to this forum and ‘closed’…

I would like to make a wider point about content posted on the forums:

For the like’s of Potty’s original thread here, it currently has been viewed 10 times.

The thread that was moved from the ‘General’ sub-forum has already 3x the views from being in General that short period.

Similarly, the Fan Creations sub-forum doesn’t seem to get much traffic in comparison to the General section.

I’m wondering if there’s a middle ground where things can either left in the General sub-forum to drive some traffic - then once they are moved a “This post has been moved” post can be inserted?

Clearly the ideal situation would be for more of the General traffic to also frequent the other sections (I’m guilty of this myself: I’ve never been in the Competitive section until today).

So in the spirit of helping people who want to help the community and game in general - could there be any movement on these moderation rules? Or how the forum currently deals with moved posts?

Thanks.

@LCTR unforunatiy by posting a topic with actual content over on the general forums is breaking the forum “rules”.

This is why @Faraleth a whole bunch of people do not use these forums and will continue to be put off by over aggressive moderation. To make a long story short. Clam down with your “status” here on the forums :relaxed:

@LCTR it is because it is a “competitive” event topic. I didn’t realize that only my threads were moved and locked throughout this forum. Mods are salty against competitive events taking place I think :smirk:

Let’s not make inaccurate assumptions and start negativity. The guidelines we have been given by @MissMurder were extremely clear that competitive-related topics need to be in the appropriate section. If you have a particular topic which you think would be better off in the General section, feel free as always to PM one of the mods, we can discuss it and maybe even obtain special permission if the situation warrants.

This, however, is the wrong way to go about it.

Your other topic was locked as a duplicate, which is pretty much standard procedure for any forum.

Let’s keep this topic on track and harassment-free so it can remain open. I’d like to see this topic continue to bring awareness to the community by showcasing events

Thanks for your understanding!

@potty If you have any further questions regarding this policy, feel free to send me a PM and I will do my best to address the situation. Have a great day!

I understand that the mods are volunteers applying the rules that have been set - I’m certainly not blaming anyone for doing that. Moderating is, at best, a thankless task

My post was hoping to illustrate the need for a discussion of those rules so that - for the good of everyone - different aspects of DB (Comp play, User created content, etc.), and the forum ecosystem at-large could benefit. Helping to spread traffic from General across the different sub-forums.

Cheers.

LCTR, your post was reasonable and well-written. The only reason I didn’t respond directly to it was I didn’t want to derail the topic any further :frowning:

The mods all agree with you, actually. We have a list of suggestions and bring things like this to the attention of the powers-that-be all the time. Your suggestions and ideas are welcome!

Derail all you want. No one reads this part of the forum anyways.

Overwatch it is!

@SwedishMeatBalls , Too late for anything to happen now. I think most teams have moved onto other games. Only a few try hards left which is a shame

I had high hopes for this game and actually enjoy playing it. With a smaller competitive player base than ET in 2014 I can’t see it having a future
