You mentioned how this post was not constructive, yet in this sea of positive posting you keep posting negative dribble that is not constructive nor informative. As you’re quick to critique others, you aren’t wary of your own posts, and are only bringing down this thread, please stop.
I’m incredibly positive about MW3 though. Have you seen the stuff you get to use in their expansion? It’s bloody amazing.
This game is the closest to RTCW and ET that I have played.
The problem that will have to be over come is pubbing and the want to grind. In RTCW and ET there was really no reason to pub other then to work on your shot and just to flat out own people.
The only reason I would play DB is for that same reason so far.
BF3 and Black OPS 2 both had reasons besides raging people.
BF3 had Platinum Stars for the guns at 1,000 kills so I tried to get that. I had 3 guns that I wanted to get to 10,000 kills each. Plus there was also a rank system. I remember I was in the top 10 for Headshots in the world for a few months until I stopped playing.
COD Black OPS 2 it was to level your gun and put a cool logo on it.
However! These are not reasons for competitive gamers to play as they could really careless about that type of stuff. Most will pop into a server rage around and get bored and leave. If you can find something that will keep the comp gamers in a pub then you have a winning game.
This got be thinking about another point. What about the fun dont give a crap gamers that just like to run around and do objectives and stuff. Good players will eat them alive and either they will quit or call them a haxer. Anti-Cheat with a good Spec mood and maybe some new tech that I dont know of will need to be #1 on the list for a game like this.
Say you fix all the bugs and this game is fast and smooth and is amazing for comp, pubbing, shooting and fun if people hax or the game is suspected of being weak or full of haxer then no one will play. It will turn into a lan fest game with no pubbing.ET at the end got really bad for haxers.
Also please dont make this a euro only play style! Set my M_Pitch to 0 and only aim left and right and screw up and down. I remember in ET when the Euro clans and community were crying so much about proning. Mostly because of the hitboxes but I never had a problem with it.
I want to play this game but to bad I can only vent or take a day of vacation and play at lunch on a euro server and lag out into a wall or into someone and wonder why my bullets arent hitting. No thanks.
I agree with that list of games being inferior. But you’re not considering next gen games which are going to hit the market within the next year… bf4, titanfall, cod ghosts, and even killzone 3. In other words, DB is going to have a rough road ahead the longer it takes to release.
All these games are next gen in terms of graphics, not gameplay. Killzone is pure ****ty gameplay for instance … DB can be that game with medium graphics, but the freaking gameplay that turns you into an addict
Apart from your love for ur own skill, the fact is that you are flat out wrong. Keeping the minority comp gamers in a pub doesn’t make for a winning game. Keeping pub players, playing and moreover buying stuff, is how SD will make this a winning game. Whether that’s a game you or me will want to play is entirely beside the point.
On topic, there is a lot to like about DB, here’s hopin it lives upto it’s potential.
Just wanted to say exactly the same. The gameplay doesn’t really depend on whether something is current, or next gen. And I don’t see myself playing BF’s and COD’s MP, simply because of the gameplay; and of course, because of the boring realistic design. When I started playing in '04, I was all about realistic looking games, but that had thoroughly changed by now. And I don’t find DB’s graphics “medium”; I still want my games to look like games, as much as I like my comics to look like comics and not like a photo-album.
Did you see Titanfall? That game looks awesome, I was sold as soon as I saw the guy running across a wall. It also helped that it’s got a cool setting + mechs + CoD style gunplay + made by respawn… Shut up and take my money!
The game(Titanfall) looks absolutely awesome, and has a great artstyle, but I prefer purer FPS games like DB, Brink, Americas Army and CSS* for my regular/daily FPS sessions. Titanfall on the other hand seems to me more like one of those “big experience” games, like Planetside 2 and Destiny. Wich all appear to be awesome/epic games, but aren’t really compareable to such a tight shooter like DB, wich has his emphasis on mostly linear objectives, and constant encounters with the enemy. Not to mention a very strong emphasis on movement and shooting skills. DB has all the characteristics of a true E-sport game whereas the games, mentioned above, are mostly for players wich are playing “just for fun”(I mean, in a more casual style) and the overall experince. I think, even if it’s a shooter game, it’s a whole different genre than DB, but I’ll certainly keep an eye on that game.
*(haven’t played it for 6-7 years though, but I thought of of giving CS:GO a shot)
I don’t know if you mean my latest post directly, but if so, I’m sorry, that I’ve bored you with my opinion. But don’t you think we allready have enough threads concentrating on “what’s wrong” with DB? And if you don’t think so, just feel free and open another one. I really like DB, but I also had and still have a couple issues with it, but I’m not too shy to address them and I also did that; but one thread, that says why many of us like DB, isn’t really too much, or is it?.

I actually suspect Titanfall might be the most e-sports suited of all the ‘new’ FPS games seen at E3. I can understand why a lot of what has been seen of it would lead to the impression it may not be ‘pure’ as you describe it, and it depends what support they build in for a competitive format, but those guys have produced very good PC comp games in the past and there are clearly some fast skill elements to Titanfall.
At least, as a former CoD 1 ‘pro’, that is how I feel

Titanfall looks amazing and I only hope it has a good PC scene. Sometimes these console games see the bulk of the players and dwarf the pc community thus pretty much killing any full fledged pc community right off the bat (which means no lasting competitive scene).

Okay, thnx for your reply Anti; and as I’ve said, I’ll certainly keep an eye on that game. It’s totally my genre(game genre and setting), it looks great and it’s F2P, so I’d probably have checked it out anyways. but now I almost have to:wink:
It’s just, that I’m a bit doubtful, that such a bombastic shooter has the same longevity like those “purer” FPS games like CS, W:ET and Quake. At least for me personally. I can’t express exacly what I mean, but I think you guys understand it anyways.
Oh, i thought it would be clear to all that I was just kidding along the Anti’s post:
That wasn’t directed at you FROST at all

Oh :o …
loved the LB and RB buttons on the HUD in the Titanfall trailer, smash X to eject :D, to much console for my taste. It was like seeing Locki playing Brink with an xbox controller… memories
Titanfall = remastered Battlefield 2142 :D, targeted for console. Ready your credit card to buy your way in to The Hall of Fame :D.
