Dirty Bomb will simply not run

Hi, first time poster here, I have clocked around 60+ hours on DB and have had no problems with it. I stopped playing it for a week or so (exams etc) and have just come back to find that it will not run. When I click ‘run’ on Steam, the text “running” appears next to the game on my list of games, however a few seconds go by and nothing happens. The “running” text next to the game’s name then dissapears, and thats it. I’ve tried this several times, running steam as an admin, trying again the next day after rebooting my PC, validating the local files, I see no obvious reason for it not to work.
It gets stranger still: I uninstalled the game and re-installed it completley, but the same problem persists! I can’t figure out a way at all, does anyone have any suggestions?

if you have AVG anti virus you will need to disable it before DB will run.

Any help on uninstalling and then reinstalling please?

what about uninstalling and reinstalling peppyCandle?

also another possible solution is starting your PC in safe mode with networking and try launching DB. Then start the computer normally and try again.

Windows Defender can also cause this error, if you are using it you may want to try disabling it temporarily then launching DB.
