DIRTY BOMB UPDATE: Version 22962 - August 23rd 2013

(MrFunkyFunk) #61

Before the classless obj I enjoyed it quite a lot, must admit I didn’t play with it much ever since with the tweaks on all the weapons.
I had good sprees in pub & drafts with it, while not ideal it was second for me behind fops guns (before classless patch).
What made you hate it?

Like Djiesse said, I feel like they want every engineer to be a “in your face” kind of char.

So far, so good. Can we get a “save password” switch so I can be a little more lazy?

(Kl3ppy) #63

I already asked for it but for safety reasons and the NDA they are not giving us this option before we left the alpha

(senilityiscool2) #64

Safety? Will the game detonate if it is added?

I get the whole NDA thing. But after paying out someone’s dinner expenses for a week, is it at least something I can expect to happen?

It’s was announced that the class-less objectives system was only in test, and can be changed in the future.
Some developers can give us a feedback on the system of objectives please ?
Can we still except a return to the classic system, or a totally new system to test, or the decision to stay with this system is taken ?

(DarkangelUK) #68

By the fact that they were telling folks during interviews that anyone can do objectives then I’d say it’s here to stay… called it!

(montheponies) #69

I wouldnt take that as being definitive. I seem to recall Brink being touted as having a unique blend of single and multiplayer - whereby I could run my own single player game during which others may join and influence it in a dynamic manner - look how that turned out…

(Kl3ppy) #70

I think you cant compare it to former games because this time SD decides what to do and what not to do. I’m pretty sure we will have the classless objectives. Our task now is to balance it as good as possible.

(montheponies) #71

I don’t mind the classless objectives, especially now the proficiencies are in place. I’m just making the point that an announcement at a consumer show about a game that is still in Alpha isn’t the definitive last word on the game design. Basically it still leaves the developer plenty of wiggle room to change things if necessary.
whats with self revive. its taking over 5 secs to appear if at all.
not much use if i can respawn and run back quicker.
Not sure what you mean. Please explain, didn’t notice anything bad about Footlooose. Actually my favourite character now. He’s perfect (maybe apart from his SMG recoil but that’s general for most weapons).

medic repair is so slow hardly feels worth while. seems too high risk to use.

I sincerelely sincerely hope the medic and co. repair proficiency doesn’t go higher than now. Really.

Considering how it actually plays now and what it means in the greater scheme of the game, is there really that much more to gain by going back to the other system?

(Protekt1) #74

I can see that the main advantage you can gain from the new system is when you have multiple people working on the objective at the same time. That is a risk/benefit move since you have less people protecting the people working on the objective (we need a new noun - objectiver?). So if you have 3 people fixing the EV then you only have 2 people preventing the other team from getting close. But if you have 1 engineer, you can have 4 people preventing the other team from getting close. 1 non-engineer seems very slow and I like that. You definitely will want the right guy for the job even though it is not absolutely mandatory.

(DarkangelUK) #75

Considering how much it’s been debated to death and it looks like it was decided a while ago, is there really that much more to gain by dredging up the same discussion again? Everything that needs to be said has been said, the decision has been made, going in endless loops solves nothing.
