DIRTY BOMB UPDATE: Version 19039

(Breo) #81

I’m happy :stroggtapir: with the extra route after the first object that choke point was horrible  With the new layout the attackers get at least more space to fight for that area.

Probably the double wall has something to do with the forward spawn? When it’s captured by the attackers it will be hard to disarm the charge because the defend team spawns behind the wall while it’s basicly a open area for the attackers.

Just wanted to add that, if possible, can you have health showing in numbers? Now that I’ve disabled game post-processing, it’s difficult to have a real idea about your HP without the blood on the screen (I like having no blood on my screen, though). The healthbar of course displays your health, but it’s not ideal when needing to see at a split-second how you’re doing.

Before, I used the blood on my screen to pack up again on instinct. I would like to have that sort of intuition back but without sacrificing my view,

Yes, this would be very nice.

My average FPS performance on Waterloo has took a nose dive sometimes dropping below 30fps in places post 19135 .

(INF3RN0) #86

I’m also getting pretty awful performance now, but I’m sure it will improve. I’d love some LOD options.

Great games tonight. hope to give some good feedback once iv had a good week of play.

Not really enjoying the latest couple of patches, TTK is almost instant and it is rewarding headshots too much, I seem to die in one or two shots to players who have mastered this art, not much fun (last nights matches were pretty stacked though tbh). Performance is pretty bad despite everything on lowest settings and am getting the tracking lag I used to get in earlier versions. Engie MG seems nerfed compared to the last version, but not as useless as the shotgun at least. Grenades also have gone back to the bouncy-do-no-damage variety, they were almost perfect in the previous patch. Spread seems worse on the soldier MG as well. Sniper was pretty good, but the lack of sway is making it a bit OP imho. Movement seems better but taking a bit of getting used to - you can kind of bunny jump now but its still a bit odd as you have to pause a bit between jumps. Camden is looking a lot nicer but that first obj, argh…

So players who have better aim shouldn’t be rewarded?

Maybe by lowering the ROF you might be able to live a little longer. It’s worth testing.

Gwahaahaahaa

(Mustang) #93

If it raises the barrier to entry too high and kills the fun then it needs toning back a bit.

I think he mainly wants to have more ability to react for the most part, which I’d like as well. I just like a good combination of reflex and tracking myself, not that I can argue one as being better than another. I still consider the tracking to be wholly unique to these games and wandering too far down the reflex route will have people calling it CoD XVIII (roman numerals because the numbers won’t fit on the case anymore).

It’s not like every player has good aim. If he can’t beat some players that is his own problem. You’re never going to make everyone happy with ttk and rof. It feels find the way it is now in my opinion. Hop on a map and duel and work on your aim. You’re never going to be happy so there’s a point of settling. Maybe it could use a slight tweak or 2, but nothing major in my opinion. The fact that you say it’s a barrier to playing is completely ignorant. It’s not like every player is going to hop on a server of veteran players each time they play. You’re never going to get better playing people who can’t aim your only going to get lazier. I’m sorry to be to the point but some of these casual posts coming from some people are going to hurt this game from being successful. Look at brink. All of SD games have gone down hill since ET. This needs to be done right.

So tested and the gunplay i leave to the pros with feedback. It felt at least right and there is not so much spread. I also like that you listened to my advice on increasing the flycurves of the packs. Really like that, they fly nicely all over the place now and can be used really well (doesn’t feel that blocky anymore). I am also an initial fan of the new Canary Wharf map, as i was a bit sceptical at first for it being indoor. But i know that this map doesn’t stay that nice, or maybe it does. What i mean is that i pretty much expect you to put alot of clutter and other stuff in it. I like how it is now, with very clean visuals. I am also almost a fan of the textures used (reminds me of Portal maps) and i think this could be a nice artstyle for itself.

Overall i like the progess.

Another thing i would really like to point out. I really advice to just install W:ET and simply move your character around. You will immedietely notice that DB is currently miles away from such nice movement. Especially the character responsiveness. If possible i would like this to be exactly like W:ET. I don’t mean the movement system though, just the way you move your character (press a, d, a, d, a, d and move your character around like that, there is a big difference so far, i think this can be improved). EDIT maybe it is that you can’t sprint while moving sidewards. I really would like to have a version of DB to test out where you can sprint and strafe at the same time. Maybe that is the key problem (for me).

Again, nice progress so far

(Violator) #97

The issue isn’t with who is better, I’m probably at the low end of skill in the test-base as there are a great deal of pro / top end comp players testing (the majority by the poll I posted a week or so ago) who I don’t expect to beat in a 1 on 1 most of the time, but the previous patch it felt a lot better, now I’m just insta-dead a lot of the time without any time to react as Inf stated, often without even getting into a fight making it feel more like CS:S which I did enjoy back in the day but not really what I’m after in DB. Reducing RoF might solve it, its an iterative process this alpha and some patches have been better than others, currently for me at least its not so good - Echo will tell all :). Players with better aim should of course be winning fights but at least it should be a fight that lasts longer than 0.1s

Aim will be rewarded more if you have to aim more consistently. Right now a lucky spray near the head can do you in for, and that means that rushing around a corner is often suicide. Which is a shame, because bold moves like that have always made the ET series extremely enjoyable for me.

(maxxxxlol) #99

You can kill people quicker in et

(Verticae) #100

You can also move 5 times as fast in ET. It evens out.
