Dirty Bomb trivia?

(kAndyREW) #1

Hey guys,

I’m trying to come up with a list of little known things about Dirty Bomb (could be in game stuff or about splash damage or the development of Dirty Bomb) For in game stuff, I’m trying to keep it not about tips/tricks but more like easter egg type stuff?

Anyways I’ll start us off:

  1. Dirty Bomb was originally called Dirty Bomb, then was changed to Extraction during PAX of 2013, then switched back to Dirty Bomb
  2. Shotguns in Dirty Bomb (I think it’s the hollund) has an upward arrow pellet spray pattern

You guys got anymore?

Sawbonez got dishonorably discharged from the Army for removing an officer’s kidney and transplanting it into a private.

I think that was his lore at least… They pulled the info from the game. Correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT:

There are many ways to be dishonorably discharged from the US Army Medical Corps, but anaesthetizing your commanding officer and surgically removing one of his kidneys to save the life of a lowly private soldier is surely one of the more elaborate. Sawbonez never did think red tape went well with a white coat. Now he wears camo, saving (and taking) lives on the battlefield for the highest bidder.

(Nail) #6

Phantom was also the start of advanced movements

All shotguns actually use a star pattern last I heard.

Proxy, Nader and Sparks all have tattoos or paint on their cheeks, stars, bullets and crosses respectively, Nader was originally going to have a hazzardous looking paint in one cheek or maybe a bandaid.

Sawbonez’ currently untextured saw is actually a construction saw, not a surgical one.

Concept art of Nader depicted her arm tattoo a bit different, She had grenades, barbed wire and “Rad Soldiers 4 Life” on her arm, another game made by Splash Damage a cartoony game set in London, this time being hit by strange space rockets and hybrid between the old and new Xcom games.

Old concept art for Fragger gave birth to Thunder, named “The Slug” in these drafts

Concept art for Fragger had him wear glasses.

Early design of Fragger had him look a lot like Paul Wedgwood, CEO of Splash Damage and Executive Producer of Dirty Bomb, which you can see RIGHT behind him along with other images I have here.

[url=“http://pcguru.hu/uploads/archive/img/dirty-bomb-vip-founder-pack.jpg”]In Pre-Alpha and Founder Cards Fragger was known as Dazzler and had both Frag grenades and Concussion Grenades, a K-121 as a primary and M4A1 as a secondary, Sawbonez Founder appearance was much different and lacked his shades.

Vasilli Hardly changed from his current design

Early art of Bushwhacker had him wearing a cap like Fletcher and a headset.

Early concept art for Aura was an African-American male.

[url=“http://images9.gry-online.pl/galeria/galeria_duze3/427733821.jpg”]Arty used to have shades and didn’t wear a helmet, like Fragger he had a blood type strap, in this case A -pos-.

Turtle has a Prosthetic arm and his name comes from the fact he keeps his shield on his back when not deployed, The company that made his arms seems to be “Casper Ergonomics”, he also has a shirt saying “I.E.P.P” which could be the company he works for, also he has tattoos on his neck and arm

The Three star patch on Fragger’s arm in concept art is in an upside down triangle in game, while in concept art his blood type is shown as B -Neg-, its show as B+ in game, on a strap going over his chest.

In her Default Outfit Proxy’s shirt says Proximinty down her chest.

Fletcher’s overalls says “Inventer” and small text sounding as company brand, this can be seen in many merc’s default outfits.

Vasilli has a company name on the side of his hood

Sparks has her company logo on her red health pack

Bushwhacker has his on his shirt, reading “Vent”

Pheonix has one on the bottom of his Poncho and another on his helmet

What is at the moment strange railroad like designs on Nader’s arms was really a pair of complex designs, resembling japanese dragons.

Grenades everyone has strapped on them but never use mostly look like russian RGD-5 grenades

Some old skin ideas made characters wear CDA colors, white, black, yellow.

In underground there is advertisement for STEG a company that made the Stillnotto Stilletto, all the phone used for disarming/arming C4, and the tools used to repair/disarm for both engineers and nonengineers

Concept art of Turtle and companies endorsing him.

…obsession, that’s how ;_;

Edit: I was wrong about Aura, her hair was different, had less of a medical look and given a more athletic appearance in concept art making her look more masculine.

Aside from mostly changed weapon names, numbers and designations, the Ahnuld 12 is named after famous movie actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, especially when someone were to say his name in his thick Austrian accent, the gun is named such as it was the most famous gun he’s been seen using in Terminator 2 the model 1887 shotgun, most noticeable when he flip cocks it while operating a motorcycle.

Side note, he had different versions even one with a larger never loop to spin cock easily, he tried doing it with one with a regular lever loop and almost broke his fingers.

Arty is the typical asian sterotype…
And we need crazy russians (rhino)

(D.C.V.) #17

Damn, we need shades Arty back. With a different haircut though, because that one looks weird

By the way, Fletcher seems to be the owner of an Arms Company.
Screenshot of my Crotzni(silver sawbonez card):

The Crotzni is also made in China and apparently it fires 7.7mm rounds(?!?)

man TY @D.C.V super helpful. At this rate I’ll have to make a part 2…

Can’t tell either, I can tell that her cobalt cards say “Fracture” on the shoulder and lower portion of her labcoat.
