Dirty Bomb "Test A Merc"

(505Northman) #1

So I was grinding away to get 50k credits to get me a Thunder because Thunder is fat and then I see on the Guides section of the Steam overlay this guide on how to test mercs. This used many console commands and was utterly horribly bad and wasn’t efficient enough for me to test mercs so I was wondering if they could add a test a merc system. Here is how I think it should be if they do add one.

Make a map where there is some targets for you to shoot at like a proxy, then a skyhammer, and a fragger because of their health to see the difference between low and high health killing. Then make it so that the player can not jump over to go knife them so they only can shoot. Allow players to bring in custom loadouts to try out their new weapons in the testing zone. This could promote the purchasing of other mercs or it might just make them walk away from buying that merc but honestly I think this could work. Of course just make sure to make it single player only and everything will be fine. Hopefully some other people agree with my idea. Please add your suggestions to this idea. I really want to see this added into Dirty Bomb so that people can assure that they will be buying a merc that they will like and not end up hating and wasting that money they payed for that merc.

The reason why SD didn’t put the loadout testing is because of stimulating the curiosity of Pineapple Juggler, since you’ll never know how it’s going to work unless you buy the loadout or someone else test it.

This encourages many people to buy a loadout with Pineapple, which $upports $D a lot, make them able to evade the loadout balancing responsibility by $aying ‘We won’t fix the first generation loadouts, because somebody bought those for their own greed’

This has been discussed a lot, if… it ever comes to fruition, it won’t likely be untill release

You can open up maps in offline games as well as switch mercs and abilities. You may not get targets but it’s close enough.

nope, needs a shooting gallery with static and moving targets, walljump practice areas, and a way to practice abilities. What it doesn’t need is textures

There is one. Called “Merc-rotation”. Either wait and test, or buy and be prepared for probable disappointment.

(Runeforce) #7

And that’s totally not what the OP was talking about. Why are you even posting?

Because I can. Also, same question to you.
My suggestion was that we don’t need it. We already have a free-rotation, and people can inform themselves before they blindly buy a merc, or they mash some buttons like a monkey, buy something and be disappointed…

This.

It is also very easy to earn the credits to buy every single available merc. Don’t buy cases, buy mercs. Buy the ones that suit your playstyle the best, then others when you collect enough. Then you buy the bronze loadout you want for that merc.

If you want something now, now, now, well you pays your money , you takes your chances.

We already have “Free Mercs Week”, eventually you can find mercs that suits your play style playing them.

i agree with merc rotation is the solution, BUT it doesn’t help that some mercs haven’t been in it for a long time. i mean fletcher was free for 2 weeks till mid january and here we are not even a month later and hes free again. whats the logic here? how is it decided?
