Every time I try to launch Dirty Bomb nothing happens. I try to open it, I see the “preparing to launch” box pop up for like a split second, then it goes away and nothing happens. I’m on Windows 7. Steam is up to date, I’ve verified the games integrity, I’ve deleted it and reinstalled it… I’m not sure what else I could possibly do at this point.

When NGS is launching, it can start some sort of update or scan that can take a long time before the game shows up. From a user interface point of view this is bad, because nothing is telling you that NGS is doing something, so a lot of users thinks that the game crashed while it actually was perfectly functionning.
Check if the DB processus is still in your task manager. If I remember correctly, Dirty Bomb’s processus is called “Shootergame.ini” or something like that. As long as you see that processus, wait. It can really take a rather long time. I remember that I had to wait for 10 minutes once. You may also fasten it if you clean your PC and get rid of games you don’t play anymore.

Also,there’s a trick to see i’f your game is launching. It just requires Steam.
First,open your friendlist. Then launch your game. (i’f you have installed it on steam)
I’f it shows that you’re playing Dirty Bomb right after the NGS box disappeared, then that means that your game is booting

Are you using AVG antivirus? After recent update AVG is causing problems and you can’t run Dirty Bomb while it is working 
You need to temporary turn it off, then open Dirty Bomb, and when you see it loading, you can turn it on back again.

FYI guys, this is the third person I have seen report this in the last 2 days. Not on the forums but on steam and crap. Heaps of people saying it comes up with the NGS logo then nothing, and it just doesn’t open.

Disable your Firewall / Antivirus and retry, one of those may be clashing with something in NGS / DB.

Set your computer to safe mode with networking, try to launch Dirty Bomb and see if it will launch, if not, no worries, just restart your computer again but normally this time, and you should be able to launch it. Have had this problem a few times myself

Literally every time this happens to a bunch of people (in any game) it’s almost always a bad update to some AV product that is causing havoc. As a troubleshooting step anytime this happens always kill your av suite temporarily to see if you can launch. I haven’t used anything but Windows Defender for years and haven’t had any issues with it. But in the past I used AVG and one other AV and from time to time they would screw up the AC clients on some games I played.

I have no idea, but it is really a pain to deal with. all I know is disabling AVG in the advanced settings allows Dirty Bomb to run. Funny thing is Windows Defender may also have a problem running DB as well for some odd reason for some people. i don’t know though. sorry.
