Dirty Bomb is getting Private Test Servers

If a dev team decides they want to create a game with a large competitive scene their decisions will lean toward making it more competitive… This would include listening to the competitive players thoughts and ideas. It is very much a choice because if the dev team does not care about their comp scene it will fail. Its pretty simple. If the dev team does not support it it will fail and if they do then it has a MUCH larger chance to succeed.
I would also like to do some private testing. I am very interested in what the devs have to offer in the future. If I were to be invited, how would I know?
I dont understand this. Dirty Bomb is in Beta so why the hell should there be test servers? Meaning of Beta version is, that people (few, invited in closed one or everyone in open) play uncomplete game and by adding feedback they tune game for its final release. So game is in beta now, but you want to make pre-beta versions for PTS? I think, that you should release, even non complete stuff on live servers and let players balance it out. Make some surveys for tuning future updates and let your community, players, make this game perfect. Its not fair that few players will make decissions about next contents. So mark this game as “final version” or make it REAL beta as it should be. A lot of people were complaining about some recent things done and its allright, because we all are beta testers. Now its SD turn to read all comments and make needed steps to balance and tune their update.
PTS players hardly make any decisions, its just about bug&glitch&exploit hunting. Several bugs have already been identified that would likely otherwise make it into the next patch.
Think of it as QA more than anything else.
As Szakalot said, it’s not like the closed group is making decisions. The only reason for a PTS right now is that the game is openly available (beta argument aside), so any more risky or controversial changes that hit the public release will have an impact on the actual game community - looking back at the Phantom saga, people can and will lose their shit over updates to the public release. If they release something that makes the closed group lose their shit - well, nothing lost. The group understands they’re guinea pigs and the rest of us are none the wiser.
Yeah, but thats problem of the community. When players cant understand the fact, that this game is at beta. We all are beta testers and we are here to balance this amazing game. When people think that this game is in its final release they cant read or just dont want to accept its current beta state. I´ve been playing Urban Terror for almost 6 years and I was at every beta build for its testing. It is kind of honor to do beta tester and I just dont understand why game in Beta state needs another sub-beta state to be applied. Everyone musts understand that this game is beta version and it means that everything isnt perfect.
Yep, it really does not make any sense to have a PTS wile still in Beta… so does this mean they are going to release in the near future!!! Maybe… I have heard no talk about it but who knows?
Dont see why they wont just make pts as a public option then we know what we are getting in for and can help with bugs
