Dirty bomb for steam

(Brinkman) #21

ok, but offer it on steam as well. plenty of free games on steam doing this same thing.

(Rex) #22

No thanks, steam sucks.

(rookie1) #23

What I dont like about Steam…its take lots of ressource when open

(BomBaKlaK) #24

100% agree but a steam game have a lot more chance to survive !

(Kl3ppy) #25

Yeah right, thats why Brink is still played

Same level of argument cites TF2. Yay! This game is clearly bound for TF2 levels of success on Steam.

Steam would probably bring more money via additional players than the service costs. Exclusively releasing on Steam doesn’t make much sense because the community and business model is running on a separate service. Seems like most Free 2 Play games that are on Steam, now, have a second “release” on Steam after previously attracting as many players outside of Steam as possible.

Splash Damage might also be considering how either choice would reflect on WarChest as a viable independent F2P platform if they’re looking to attract other developers.

Don’t care either way.

(Kl3ppy) #27

Having it on steam is a good idea but having it on steam only is a bad idea.

Quick question. How many F2P games on Steam can you name off the top of your head? Not many? Yeh, if it’s released on Steam it will have to be extraordinarily special/unique to get noticed. (There are 100’s, if not 1000’s of F2P games on Steam)

(BioSnark) #29

There are 57 tagged as F2P.

Comparing Steam’s most popular free-to-play list and top games by player count shows that exactly 10% of the (current) most played games are free-to-play. There are 111 F2P games available*.

As BioSnark says, once Dirty Bomb has grabbed as many (paying) players as possible directly through WarChest, a second release on Steam would be natural. Steam adds value for a lot of people so, if they can stomach Valve’s 30% cut, why not?

*according to the link on right-hand side of their free-to-play page (which only returns 50 results)

I kinda dont like steam

But i do like the idea that if your getting caught in cheating then your possibility to create a new user also would mean you had to create a new steam account before you can play again

Interesting. I didn’t notice with my 6gb of system ram :o

and based on steam stats, most everyone has 3, 4, or 8 gigs of ram.
http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

2 GB 13.95% +0.29%
3 GB 20.00% +0.15%
4 GB 22.78% -0.65%
5 GB 1.18% +0.10%
6 GB 6.95% -0.35%
7 GB 1.05% +0.20%
8 GB 21.25% -0.14%

a simple app like steam isn’t bogging down anyones machine.

anyway, this game doesn’t have to be exclusive to steam. I’m just wanting it to be offered on steam.

Just about all the free to play games on steam have alternative downloads.
