Dirty Bomb crashing to desktop

(obligingWalnut) #1

I just installed/re-installed Dirty Bomb on my PC. When I click on the desktop icon, It will show the little Dirty bomb window then the screen goes black for just a second then crashes to my desktop with no error message or anything like that. Any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it. I tried deleting the two shooter files in the config folder and it still didn’t work. I tried right clicking on the desktop icon and went to properties but no option for compatability mode or run as admin. Here is my PC specs.
Windows 8.1 64bit
AMD FX-8320 4.0Ghz.
ASUSTek M5A78L-M/USB3
HyperX 8GBytes DDR3 Dual Channel
AMD Radeon HD 7800 1GHz Edition.

Got a similar issue since this latest update. Prior to the “Fine Tuning Update” The game ran fine. Now, I can get all the way up to the point where it actually loads the game. I am looking at the map overview loading screen when the game crashes to the desktop. No errors or messages of any kind. I have almost 15hrs with zero issues until this.

Right now I am uninstalling and reinstalling. I am also deleting the "Unrealengine3 " folder under Users>(your user name)>My games. I think I did an INI tweak awhile back and I want to make sure it is not causing my issues.

I used to get a little flash of my desktop when the map loaded previously but it always loaded. Best of luck getting your issue fixed. If I manage to fix mine, I will be sure to report back in case it helps you.

Update: Uninstall-Reinstall did not work but deleting the “UnrealEngine3” DID! I am thinking that this latest update has broken some of the common INI tweaks.
