Dirty Bomb as an open-world RPG?

Think of the potential. Imagine it. Dirty Bomb setting, characters, weapons, abilities, gameplay in an open-world post-apocalyptic London? Choose a side, Jackal or CDA? Pick your merc. Rage war in small-town skirmishes, destroy objectives, complete bounties as Phantom, Vassili, Aimee, or Redeye, or even break Rhino out of prison!?

I’m not even kidding, this would be awesome. Fallout + Red Faction Guerrilla + Dirty Bomb = perfect combination???

Ummmm

I honestly would not mind borrowing Dirty Bomb’s gunplay, and maybe making the TTK in PVP a little longer on average, while PVE there’s various types of missions and jobs you do for loot.

To be honest I’d much prefer a Bounty Hunter like setting.

if it would be borderlands style game… omg… DO IT SD!!!

i was always wondering what linked all the maps together. i was thinking it was underground. or maybe the train map to move you via rail. and then there is just scavenging and loot finding to sell for credits while they head off to find a new area.

I don’t see it - The characters are their weapon loadouts and abilities. For a game like you imagine, weapon pick ups would be required to keep your character “progressing”

Kira with a minigun?

Plus, considering the time its taking for one new map to be released - imagine how long it would take for an “open world” map to be made!

Maybe if they want to expand DB more, this is good for a sequel/prequel of DB

sounds a bit like “Rage”

Could always just stich the maps together into one

unfortunately Ubisoft always hands us watered down content.

I remember the first time I saw a trailer for Brink… I was expecting some type of open-level game with rebellious style gameplay in the slums of a enormous container ship. I expected to be able to pick off high-ranked officers with my sniper rifle… Obviously it was a much different experience and the game was just lacking/unpolished in a lot of areas, but it was still pretty fun. If Brink had DB’s gameplay, it would be a lot better.

An open-world DB won’t happen, but I just thought it would be fun to think about it. Something like Borderlands would be pretty damn cool.

Mash them all together. Kira with a minigun sounds fucking awesome. How about Rhino with a katana?

But yeah, it would need a lot of people working on it.

Borderlands placed in london.
Bashing heads with cricket bat and shooting looters with minigun
drinking tea at the top of the big ben
buying ammunition supplied by blackmarkets from big countries

Its like the Pripyat but better.

Sounds awesome but SD should just focus on multiplayer right now.

Imagine a rust-TYPE map, with Dirty Bombs movement, whenever you find another player you can team up or take them out. There is character customization, not the mercs featured in Dirty Bomb. Jackal and CDA are fighting, you can join sides, do missions for perks, choose your class (engie, medic, tank, etc) then do missions for guns credits skins etc story mode for each merc for lore? then what loot would there be, vehicles? dungeon-type objectives? i think it would be SUPER cool to see if theres an ev, you can escort it depending on the team you joined earlier in the game, but you dont load in. you stumble across the ev, just exploring the world and boom theres an ev to escort. if theres already people escorting it you can join up, no loading. like a fight on chapel, just imagine a regular ev escort on chapel, someone is running along looking for loot and spots the fight and can just join up. it would be uneven but that would drive players to band together, make teams, do “raids” together etc and you can get stuff for winning, and mercserv can hire you and you can accept or decline
