DirectX12 Support?

If/when will DB get support for the new API? Will it be full support featuring async compute, etc?
Thanks in advance for your time :wink:

There is no ETA on or if DX12 will come to DB. It currently runs on DX9 so I wouldn’t expect it to make the jump anytime soon.

@competentRibbon
I believe its UE3? Not 100% though. Yeah the jump from DX9 to DX12 is fairly big tbh, I dount we’ll ever have DB running on DX12 but it would be nice eventually. The new UE is pretty impressive and I think it can run on DX12 so maybe a year or so down the line it might be viable to make the jump to a new engine and with that a new API, we’ll see though I guess!

There’s absolutely no way this will happen unless the developers of the unreal engine add it, which they won’t. It’s simply not worth SD’s time.

They will not because to use DX12, they will have to move the game on a newer engine…
The most they can do is DX11 i think so. But they already have priority and i don’t think dx11 is worth it.

Zero chance of this happening as others have pointed out. This has to do with Dirty Bomb using Unreal Engine 3 and UE3 will not support DX12. UE4 does support DX12 (and early tests are pretty positive). But DB will always be on UE3 as there is no way to port the game easily to UE4.

Not to mention, that the really " better-than-DX11-performing" part of DX12 is the graphics-part, which probably is mostly asleep in dirty bomb on an average nowadays pc.
And even DX11 isn’t really supported.
