Direct Connect URL for server admins

(togsj777) #1

Is there a way to craft a URL that can be click on in a web page that will run the game and connect to the server. I want to create a link in our web based rcon tool that server admins can simply click on to join the reserved slot on the server.

I found this but can’t get it to work:
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_browser_protocol

i tried:

steam://connect/serverip:port/password

and it did nada.

thanks:penguin:

You would need to put the correct location of your Brink executable file in your hardrive. A better way to do it is to add it to your launch properties in your Brink icon found on your desktop. right click on the icon and pull down to properties and look (I believe it is) Details tab. I don’t remember since I’m at work. But in that shortcut icon on your desktop, you can put the command to connect directly to your server and put your password in the same way you did; you put the ip:port/password

Define “nada”

steam://connect/<host|ip>:<port>

works for me
Not tried with a password though, so maybe give it a go without the password

HOWEVER…

This morning it’s working a bit more. if i use for example: steam://connect/203.14.173.55:27017

with out without the /password on the end. a steam connect window does launch however its says the server is not responding and it cant join. The server is up - i can join it via the steam server list and in game…close but not close enough just yet…

this thread is to do with NS2 and the OP is having the same issue with that game:

I know where nada is derived from, what I meant is for you to elaborate on exactly what happens

FYI tested this again for you
Whilst it used to work (I last tested on release day)
Seems this is no longer the case
A game update broke it?
Or maybe something Valve’s end?

Guess there’s not much more we can do here until it gets looked into
