Store:

In inventory about to open:

Also why does it say “Unlocked Case” in the store. When its actually locked and you need a key

Could it be that you accidentally tried opening a similar looking locked case you got from a random drop before? If so, the unlocked case should still be in your items inventory.

‘Locked Cases’ and ‘Unlocked Cases’ are different cases and have different drop rates.

‘Locked Cases’ can drop during gameplay and require a key to open, whereas ‘Unlocked Cases’ are only purchasable from the store.

A ‘Locked Case’ doesn’t become an ‘Unlocked Case’ when you use a key, it just opens.

Both contain the same skins, just the drop rates are different.

This is all explained in this news post: https://www.dirtybomb.com/news/faq-weapon-skins/

Now if only we could do something about that big red number notification reminding us of all the locked cases we know we have.

I don’t understand why that notification doesn’t disappear when you view your inventory, like it does with all the other items that trigger it.

But then how will you know how many locked cases you have?

Imma be honest, that red number is annoying AF.

Red numbers are for notifying you that there is something new. I’ve got 30 cases that ARE NOT NEW.

I’d love to put them on the market, but y’alls haven’t got to that yet.

Boosters don’t show. Weap kits don’t show. Crafting kits don’t show.

Kindly let us mark the weapon skin cases as ‘seen’.

Probally for the same reason they don’t show fragment count on front page UI , the drops of both are poor at best , thinking recently that I prefer the original crafting system better and to be carefull for what we wish for with current.

Because I remember from the last 30 times I’ve gone to my inventory to open fragment and loadout cases

If you want a number displaying the number of cases we own so that we don’t have to go to our inventory to find them (I actually didn’t think about that, that’s useful), then make it something different than the notification number. I can’t always tell if that “8” means “7 cases and 1 unopened thing” or 8 cases.

A grey box with white text to the left of the red notification that only counts our cases would be minimal and not disruptive. Plus, the new notifications would pop since the number isn’t being used for a dual purpose. It should be visible but not obvious, so that we can ignore the number when we aren’t thinking about it, but see it when we are.

A number displaying the number of cases we have wouldn’t be a bad thing, but making it the same as the “new item” notification is a bit annoying.

Is this a troll?

Just for clarity, the annoying red number is on the menu which should show the number of items we haven’t seen. It’s annoying, because certain items don’t ever get marked as “seen.”

Pretty funny that you try to explain this to a developer. Of course they know. Of course they know people hate it. But there is a certain percent of people out there that is triggered so hard by the red numbers, that they will spent any amount of money to make it go away. That’s the sole reason it’s there. And therefore it isn’t going away, ever.

Maybe now that you know it’s an essential feature that in particular also enables them to keep maintaining the game, you may now stop caring about the red number and stupid cases ‘teasing’ you, because as long as you don’t become rich, there is no way you’ll ever be tempted/able to reduce that number to zero. It’s something that you need to learn to become blind to, just like all the ads in real life or tv or all over the internet.
