Did removing the ability to have FPS configurations significantly change your performance?

Previously, there were files that could be changed to lower the graphics even more so that you can do in the game’s settings. After doing so, your FPS(Frames Per Second) would be greatly increased. However in a recent patch, this was removed. For some people, this barely affected them since they have such high end PCs, on the other hand, people playing on potatos have been greatly struck. Not everyone can have, even decent, computers.

My pc runs it at 60+ fps maxed out no configuration needed

Players are still able to use FPS configuration under certain limitation, in particular particle effects disabling is not allowed.

If your configuration isn’t working it is because some part of it breaks the minimum config requirements set and you need to change it.

You can still have low FPS configs, just need to ensure they stay within the limits.

Well, like many said before, i really find the idea to limit the tweaks possibilities nice.
But, and it is big, JUST DO IT when the game is polished/optimized.

It should have been some thing graduated: you step up on optimization and in the counter part, you limit tweaks possibilities.

If i was a dev in SD, i would be so pissed off to see footage of my game played in a very very low quality. With all textures black, explosion that doesn’t appear…minecraft style…

But it’s not your priority.

They really need to add low-res options for particles and sliders for the amount of blood splatter and muzzle flash. Particles, in particular blood splatter and muzzle flash, tank my performance massively which, as a Nader main, makes me sad. Is it that hard to compress the textures for all the particles and make that an option?

It seems like most people can’t seem low-FPS configs for some reason, but mine still works perfectly? I think I’ve handed out my config to several people already and they seem to be satisfied with how it looks…

(kittenishPond) #7

I wouldn’t say greatly, a little and the stability has definitely taken a hit.

To people whose configs broke because of the recent update. Outc1der updated his config to work with the latest update: http://pastebin.com/jQ2STNJd
I noticed a large FPS boost when using this config. All credit goes to Outc1der.

@kittenishPond thanks, ill be sure to try it out.

(Jostabeere) #10

I had 60 FPS and now I have 60 FPS. On high - medium settings (motion blur and such stuff off)

(AShoppingCartGLX) #11

I set characters on high everything else low forces your eyes to focus on higher details. Easier to see people runs perfect never drop below 55FPS(IDC about pretty graphics)

(Edzer) #12

Honestly if you can’t run the game now it’s time you upgrade your PC. I’m running the game on 200fps+ with a budget system.

(SteelMailbox) #13

Something happened to my framerate after the hotfix and my frames were capped at 30 so I got Outc1der’s config (http://pastebin.com/jQ2STNJd) that makes the game look still pretty good but also increases FPS which for me is now capped at 70

(god1) #14

Never had performance issues and nothing has changed in that regard.

(Sinsanatis) #15

@steelMailbox yeah i was happy to see there was a alternative.

Yes, I can no longer see anything with all the blood, flashing and smokes in my face. Specially with close range combat, all I see is a huge muzzle flash. I’ll probably get an eye cancer soon enough if I don’t quit.

As for the game’s performance, didn’t notice a change, still running at smooth 120fps where I locked it at.

(Edzer) #17

Way to exaggerate muzzle flash. It’s really not that bad -_-
