Devs, will we see a full 8v8 competitive match vid?

(Optical_Fibre) #1

Cuz I really want to see some great footage of some talented players.

(Crytiqal) #2

huh?
You do know the game isn’t out yet eh?

(SockDog) #3

I would imagine there is a closed Beta of some description going on along with SD doing their regular testing. While I doubt you’d get a whole game it would be nice to see some footage of players playing rather than being talked through their first time on the map.

I guess as the holidays are going to be quiet anyway we’ll see the ramp up in January so perhaps we’ll get some then.

Yeah i hope they show some soon. I like these talk through videos but they never give a feel of how a game would play out. The only real way to get a feel for the game IMO is to see 2 teams go at it.

(Vaporman) #5

Or even just an example run through of a portion of single player campaign play. I don’t believe that is asking much.

(LyndonL) #6

Maybe they don’t want to release comp footage so as to not scare off or intimidate new players…

(SockDog) #7

This sentence makes me sad faced. What a sad state of affairs.

(LyndonL) #8

…is it not true though?

(INF3RN0) #9

Isn’t two teams that communicate and work together in order to win competitive? I guess that intimidates some people these days…

(Optical_Fibre) #10

That’s exactly what I meant by competitive. I’m sure splash damage employee matches are competitive?

(madoule) #11

they must’ve collected some footage from all those trade fairs. something, just give us something! its been 2 months since we’ve seen “fresh” footage.

the idea of newbs (reporters, gamers, touching the game for the first time) would be awesome. i mean outside the community the features have been declining for a while! keep up the hype… u know … sharing is caring :penguin:

(Vaporman) #12

I’d like to see some game footage on display at retailers to help drum up interest. Especially considering there will be a huge amount of consumers in stores for the Christmas season. I think they’re missing an opportunity to get some much needed word of mouth going.

(Slade05) #13

Cuz I really want to see is not the best way to persuade a developer, you know?

(tokamak) #14

I think it is. But you’re barking up the wrong tree as Bethesda controls the outgoing footage.

The lack of a proper kick-ass video still puzzles me. If you’re already allowing people to try it out in public, then why not show how it’s done? Starcraft 2 had expert matches months before the final beta started.

In all fairness, there is a “2” at the end of Starcraft 2 for a reason - it’s a sequel. Having “expert matches” for a sequel of a game compared to expert matches of a new IP is a little different.

(Vaporman) #16

Even so, fan interest and opinion can’t be gauged by Bethesda and only Bethesda. Enough clamour for something here can easily translate into action from either party.

(Auzner) #17

Since the game is still being developed it is still in whatever phase of play testing. There has not been sufficient time to even identify such people. I’m sure marketing a video game is not a new concept and the professionals will do the appropriate things. It would be nice though if more gameplay videos were released even if they don’t get commentary.

(X-Frame) #18

I’m happy to be more patient but I really would also love to see more videos … but I assume we won’t get much of anything until 2011 when the release date is announced and gets closer (obviously).

(tokamak) #19

Sure but they’ve got the devs and the inhouse testers playing this for a very long time now.

(madoule) #20

maybe they could do a “closed spectator stream” for weekly matches. to me that seems like solid compromise to a beta… i’d love that
