DEV STREAM Round-Up: 13th January 2016

(Faraleth) #1

Remember, as always, unless specifically stated as confirmed, please take everything with a grain of salt.

Were you aiming to find out something else? Was there something that you’re turtley dying to ask? Check out the FAQ here: http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/17544/dev-nexon-stream-faq

General:

  • There will be a small hotfix/bug fixing update rolling out later this week.
  • There will also be a bigger update releasing towards the end of January.
  • The Dirty Bomb team at Splash Damage has had received a few new faces in the new year, including Andrew and Mike! We’ll be hearing more about these newcomers to the dev team in due course.
  • Currently no other game-modes are being worked on, due to wanting to maintain focus on Objective/Stopwatch and Execution. Additional game-modes have not been ruled out, but are not in the short-term plans for the game.
  • Now that the trinket hunt event is over, they are able to take a look at the data for those who have not received the appropriate trinkets to see how the issue occurred. All those who earned the trinkets will definitely be receiving them!

Possible Changes/Updates:

  • Blockouts for the new objective map “Dockyard”, and the execution map “Gallery” should be in the bigger update near the end of January if all goes well. Presumably these will be in place for testing weekends, as with previous map blockouts.
  • Buying multiple cases at one one time is a possibility, but needs some more discussions on how it would work. They would like there to be more things for us to spend credits on in the store.
  • There are no balance changes in the hotfix update - those will be in the “bigger” update, near the end of January.

Extra Info:

  • As usual, today was a duo CM stream, with shoe. and Raziel!
  • Apparently shoe. looks like Ricky Martin. I’m not so convinced…
  • “I do love a good banana.” - shoe.
  • Faraleth

That’s great news! I hope they will enjoy it there!

Nothing too exciting. Maybe when we’ll have confirmation that the new obj/stop map is actually being released later this month (couldn’t care less about the execution one).

(KorpKyuuSama) #6

And Unicorns…

(GiantGiant) #7

Also Shoe got cobalt Bushwacker from regular case at the very end of the stream

You click a + sign or whatever, enter the number you want to buy and press OK. Done. Where’s my check for UI design? I accept Euros and Obsidian cards.

@MarsRover the existing frame-work for the UI doesn’t support this type of functionality, which is why they can’t just “simply” integrate it. If it were that easy, it would have been done by now

If it was going to be implemented at all, it would have to follow the elite/expert case bundle of case styles (ie. 5 or 10 packs). This is just how the store is set up to run. Sadly programming a UI and back-end isn’t as simple as drag-and-drop. :frowning:

I hope Dockyard and Gallery are smaller versions of Dome. So many jumps on that map it makes me deeply sad that people don’t like it more.

Wat. Is this framework in Early Access or something?

No, it’s stupidly easy. I don’t believe thare is any other reason than serious lack of manpower.

(strawberryJacket) #13

I wonder if they hired some sound egineer and network specialist, since both of those aspects are pretty horrible in dirty bomb.

Then again someone to opimize it and create some actual animations (those red dots from arty/skyhammer abilities still look like it was made by some high schooler in his lunch break) would be nice.

Anyway i expect 2016 to be crucial, DB will either grow or be put into life support mode.

Buying multiple cases at one one time is a possibility, but needs some more discussions on how it would work.

What? Discussion on how it would work? They could just vote if it’s going to be like in any other game where you can buy multiple items at once (which is almost every game) or if it’s going to be like expert and elite cases ( buy 1/5/10 at once).

I get a feeling that SD are going to have a 2-hour discussion about EVERYTHING…
SD employee #1: I’m going to take a dump.
SD employee #2: NO! We need to discuss about it first!

Coherent UI for the menu and Scaleform for in-game.

I would be more interested in seeing the correlation between users who got trinkets of various degree (coal->snowman) in relation to the event skins. Theortically, “snowman” players should have gotten, on average, the most amount of skins. But RNG is strong and the opposite is still a possiblity.
