Deployable that repairs or defuses

So what I am thinking is deployable that disarms and repairs when placed, you do this by pressing the Ability 2 key instead of the Interact key, when placed, it will begin to do it’s job. If it’s destroyed before the process is complete, it’ll lose all the progress it made. So if you have an objective at 50%, and place it down, it’ll go back to 50% when it is destroyed.

What do you think?

I already posted this in your other thread, so I’ll just copy-paste it here.

Any form of ranged engineering is also OP. It’d make any merc with it a must-take on the offense and possibly even the defense on every single map, as you can plant C4 in rediculous positions depending on the range and repair from completely safe places. Deployable repair bots further worsen the problem by allowing you ignore teamwork and just protect your own bot with your gun.

I’d rather core game mechanics (plant locations and repair range) to not be messed with for the same reason I also dislike merc ideas that boost speed or hand out armor.

Seems like we’ve got this goin’ in multiple different places now. Maybe have a mod’ move that one to the merc suggestions?

its a good idea, the ignore teamwork argument is bull, you still need to protect the deployable (with teammates’s help)

Not really. Since the time it takes to do it will be slow and they can have a really low amount of health.
Probably something like 30-40hp, repair 25% slower than non-engineer mercs, take 7 seconds to plant and defuse at the same speed as non-engies.

It will actually be underpowered because the progress is lost
